Leather Japan Shines at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!

Mercedes Benz fashion 2012 was amazing! Some of the shows like Leather Japan had presentations after the official runway show where you could go and see some of the pieces up close and chat with the designers. Leather Japan definitely didn't disappoint and was full of unique creative pieces that were especially exciting.

One of the designers from the Leather Japan Show, Junko Makino, used her line Enevare to create Leather bags that incorporate parts from actual armor and all pieces have hidden pockets or fold into a different shape than the one you see in the beginning. She also focused on making all of her pieces changeable and for the person constantly on the move or commuting. I was especially impressed, because as a new yorker your always looking for something to make life easier. Makino explained that she was inspired by the thought of a modern day Ninja, and what they would wear today. She also incorporated the ease of how the Ninja moves into how changeable the bags are as well as the idea of hidden beauty. This was her first show in NY and I'm so glad she shared her creative vision with us.
Check out the slide show above to see some of her pieces from the Leather Japan presentation as well as some interesting pieces from other designers at the show.
