Getty ImagesOver the past decade we've seen countless stars use their celebrity to create and launch clothing lines. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson, Gwen Stefani, J.Lo, Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Nelly, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Amanda Bynes, Missy Elliott, Hilary Duff, Pharrell Williams, Avril Lavigne, Serena Williams, Lauren Conrad, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, 50 Cent, Nicole Richie, Elle Macpherson, Carlos Santana, Chloe Sevigny, Kings of Leon, Jamie Pressly, M.I.A., even JWOWW from "Jersey Shore" all have had their name on a clothing line. So why does Madonna suddenly feel the need to jump into the already over-crowded sea of celeb designers with a collection for Macy's?
Sure, Madonna is a style icon and long-time trendsetter, and she's already worked on a collaboration with H&M back in 2007, but there are a few logistics to a Madonna collection we can't quite wrap our minds around. For starters, we're not sure who her target shopper is. The women who really love Madonna are not teens, but ladies in their 20s and older. Will they want to buy Madonna "Truth or Dare" lingerie? Or "Material Girl" apparel? Because both of those are allegedly in the works.
Well, if Madonna really wants to go that route, might we suggest a "Papa Don't Preach" edgy teen line, "Like a Virgin" training bras, "True Blue" eyeshadow, a "Dress You Up" high-end line, or maybe a "Holiday" collection?
