Mascara Guru for You

In this month's lovely Shine surprise, I was mailed some Estee Lauder Volumizer mascara. My fingers were trembling with excitment as I received my new found "toy". Yay!

My boyfriend usually rolls his eyes when I pass the make-up aisle. The end-caps are usually adorned with the newest mascara and I going into a frenzy.

"What? -- New, volumizing mascara! Rubber WAND!? Two-Step system!?"

There is some new wand or formula. And I'm hooked.

But, to an extent. I refuse to pay more than $10 for mascara. And given that I buy 2-3 different kinds a month, that's a $30 mascara budget. Which is still too much. But c'mon! I have "nothing" lashes. Short, little stubs that you might call lashes.

I digress.

You can tell that I love mascara and I was excited to get my new gift!
I run to the bathroom, and take off that day's make-up. I sit down in front of my vanity mirror, unscrew the wand and slowly pull it out. I was so suprised to see the size of that brush! It's huge and fluffy -- like the kind of catapillars you find in the spring time. This is gonna be good, right?

Eh.

It still took me 6-7 swipes per eye to get the volume I was hoping to acheive - which is no better than any "regular" mascara. So I don't know how much it costs, but I know Estee Lauder isn't considered cheap. But I would say, don't waste your money. You do get a ton of mascara. So, depending on how much you use daily, it would last a while, For me, it could easily last 3-4 months, and I am a heavy, daily user. (Kind of makes me sound like a mascara/crack addict.)

Wanna try a great mascara that's under $10? Maybelline's Falsies. It's AMAZING! With the same 6-7 swipes per eye, you eyes lashes are so long! Literally, like you're wearing false lashes.

So,Estee LauderVolumizer Mascara - No. Maybelline's falsies - Yes!

Random side note: I hate that men has such long eye lashes. Really.
