Molly Sims will host Lifetime's new reality design show, We're big fans of "Project Runway" but even design mentor Tim Gunn has admitted that the show has gone downhill since switching to Lifetime. For starters, 90 minutes is a lot of time to dedicate to one reality program. And secondly, Lifetime isn't the most fashionable of networks so there's some things they just don't get. But that won't stop them from launching a spin-off come November called "Project Accessory."
The new eight episode, hour-long series will follow the same format as "Project Runway" only this time the focus will be on designers who create shoes, handbags, jewelry, hats, belts, and other fashionable trimmings. We like the idea, because the "Project Runway" judges are always commenting on how the outfits are styled, and as we all know, often times accessories make the outfit! We're just worried that the show won't be compelling enough. Also, will milliners who are experts at making hats have the same skill set as shoe cobblers? How exactly will this work?
The new team on Supermodel and former "Las Vegas" star Molly Sims is set to host, filling the Heidi Klum role, but let's be honest: she's not nearly as likable or recognizable as Heidi Klum. Lifestyle expert and CEO of Vivre accessories, Eva Lorenzotti, will serve as mentor, though she too has big shoes to fill when compared to the lovable catch-phrase wielding Tim Gunn. Other judges include InStyle's editor-in-chief, Ariel Foxman, and designer Kenneth Cole.
We're willing to give this show a try because we love seeing upcoming designers get creative under pressure, but we don't have the highest of hopes for "Project Accessory." Will you be watching?
