How Much Money Would it Take to Sell the Clothes Off Your Back?

Would you part with your outfit on the spot if the price was right? Would you part with your outfit on the spot if the price was right? Last night on "Project Runway All Stars" the designers had to find a muse in New York City's Central Park and bribe them for the clothing off their backs. The designer would then have to incorporate a piece of their clothing into a runway look inspired by their overall style. Creating an outfit was the easy part, but it's not easy to convince people to give away their clothes!

For the challenge, designers were offering strangers around $50 for their shirt or skirt, and gave them a big white t-shirt to change into so they wouldn't walk around naked. But is $50 really enough?

Maybe we're too materialistic at Shine, but many of our garments have sentimental value and cannot be re-purchased. Sure, we'd let someone give us $50 for a $20 top we just bought at a big chain store, but if we had to sell a great dress we've had for years or our favorite worn-in jeans it might take a couple hundred dollars.

How much money would it take for you to part with the clothing off your back on any given day? Would you only want retail price in exchange, or would you need a considerable wad of cash to part with your outfit?

Ummm, depends on what I'm wearing that day. If I was wearing the winter coat my mother made for me, I wouldn't sell it. Ever. In fact, if someone tried to take it, I might just go postal on that unlucky soul. However, if I'm wearing one of the sweaters I picked up at Goodwill last week, I'd hand it over for $50.

yes you can have my clothes for 50 bucks! I'm an extreme bargain hunter (i.e. $200+ shoes for $20) i can find expensive things for cheap its a hobby, so i may have expensive things but i never paid full price, so 50 would be enough.

If it was one of my dresses, no way. It's so difficult to find dresses that fit me properly. Double no way if it was one of my favorite dresses that I bought in London.
Now, if it was my jeans, no big deal. Same for most of my shirts. I would probably part with most of my skirts too, with the exception of one that has a 101 Dalmatians print--it would be too hard to find a replacement!

Are you kidding? $50 at the thrift store would give me 10 exciting new finds. I'd gladly give up my shirt for that.

If someone needed them, I'd give up my clothes free. In fact, I have 2 bags of beautiful clothes (and a bag of shoes) I'm donating to charity tomorrow. Twelve sweaters and blouses, three dresses, two pairs of slacks, and three skirts. Everything is in perfect condition. This can be an entire work wardrobe for someone and my closet is still pretty full.

"Maybe we're too materialistic at Shine"- yeah, maybe you are.

I would gladly give my clothes to the designers for $50+. I buy most of my stuff at resale and thrift shops, so I would just go shopping and get me a whole new aoutfit with whatever they give me! I find good stuff too I always have on stuff from Banana Republic, Mossimo, New York & Company, Ralph Lauren etc.

They couldn't pay me enough. Everything I wear is tailored, from off the rack slacks I bought at Macy's to bras (yes, I have a seamstress who tailors my bras so they fit perfectly) and $50 wouldn't be enough for a garment when I usually pay more than that in the store & then pay up to $200 (on top of the retail price) to have the item tailored

Instead of having your clothes tailored try working out and eating right your face is so fat your bodys got to be huge just gross

You need to watch this episode of Project Runway. If you think he looks good shirtless, then you need to see him without his shorts either. Yummy!

The clothes I'm wearing now cost me about $20 total. I would sell it all for $50 considering I'd have to be uncomfortably in the nude, haha.

$500.00 If wearing winter coat also. $200.00 if no coat.

Bah! That's hilarious imagine being in one of the designer's shoes. That must of been weird to go around asking complete srangers for their clothes.
