Skinny jeans have ruled the fashion scene for some time now. Alas, it is finally time to diversify, and you may already have a pair in your (or your mom's) closet...The '70s-style high-waisted and wide-legged jean is back! Tummy-tucking, and leg elongating-why did we keep you folded on the shelf for so long?!
I had fully converted to the skinniest of jeans-guess we call those jeggings nowadays. So, when I ventured into the famous Beacon's Closet in Brooklyn last week, I knew I wanted something different. I was after the high waist, that much I knew. The dark wash with a wide leg happened to be a fantastic bonus. After one day of sporting these second life-cycle Grey Ants, I was in love. Of course, my jeggings still get the most wear, but it's so refreshing to have options.
It seems my whole outfit was cosmically coordinated from another decade, because my blouse is actually my great grandmother's! My mom passed it down to me (or did I steal it...?) and I love wearing it. It makes me feel connected to my grandmother, and I hope I made her proud pairing it with my new found jeans.
Oh, and did you notice my fiery nails? I am obsessed with this color. Non-toxic nail polish company Priti NYC let me pick out a few colors, and this one called 'FlameCreeper' caught my eye. It is an awesome balance of red, orange and a hint of bright pink. Yep, amazing. From my straw straight hair to my wide leg jeans, this look screams "Seventies Girl," and I am all about it!
