In the last month alone, Naya Rivera has returned to the small screen for the fifth season of Glee, released her debut single, "Sorry," and gotten engaged to her longtime boyfriend, mega-famous rapper Big Sean. But this crazy-talented dancer-slash-actress (and, now, slash-pop star!) wouldn't have it any other way.

She's been singing since she was six, and always dreamed of a career in music-but then she landed the part of Santana on Glee, and when you find yourself with the role of a lifetime, well, you take it. Finally, though, the time's right to balance both. These days, when she's not in front of the camera, Naya's in the recording studio finishing up her debut album. Her first song, a sorry-I'm-not-sorry anthem dedicated to ex-boyfriends everywhere, climbed the charts headsplittingly fast, partly because of a seriously rad cameo by Big Sean, but mostly because it's awesome. Before you ask, it's not about Sean himself. "I took a lot from different situations for this song," Naya explained when we caught up with her during a rare moment of downtime. "I love the hashtag #sorrynotsorry. It's very snarky. Sean was going to do a feature on a different song, but then this one came up, and I thought it was more his swag. So I played it for him, and he loved it."

There's no word about when we can expect another track or two, but Naya promises it'll be worth the wait. "The album will be out next year. I have a lot of songs that I love and am excited about, so you'll definitely be hearing more soon." But not super soon, because, well, there's that little thing called Glee. Speaking of which, things on the beloved Fox comedy are great, despite lots of new cast members, unexpected plot twists, and the heartbreaking loss of Cory Monteith. "The season's been good so far," she said. "We have some fresh faces, which infuses some new energy into it."
One particularly notable fresh face is, of course, Demi Lovato, who made her debut as Santana's love interest on last week's episode. "She's awesome!" said Naya. "She's so fun, such a great person, and very talented." We know you're wondering about that kiss-we were, too. "She's pretty, so it wasn't hard!" Seems to be a constant theme in Naya's life-no matter how challenging, things just come easy to this soon-to-be superstar.
