Forget 2011's predicted It color (honeysuckle pink, really?). This year, the party dress code is about one thing: sexy sparkles. So we asked Jessica Richards and Jules Stringer of new store Shen Beauty to help us create a dramatic, glittery cat's eye.
1. Prep the eye area with a light foundation or concealer. Using a shadow brush, sweep a shimmery neutral glitter base (Becca Loose Shimmer Powder in Odette, $20) all over lids up to the brow bone, dotting along inside corners to diminish dark shadows.
2. Apply glitter shadow in a deep neutral shade (Jemma Kidd Make Up School Crushed Jewel Crème Duo in Bronzeite, $26) starting about two-thirds of the way on top of the lash line, extending outward and feathering upward into a V-shape toward the brow bone. Continue along bottom lash line, building color from the outer corner of your eye, blending and smudging for desired intensity. Tip: Dust some fine, loose powder underneath your eyes to catch stray glitter.
3. Play up your natural eye shape by applying dark liner (Jemma Kidd Make Up School Define Stay-Put Eyeliner in Gunmetal, $20) along the top of the lash line and kicking out the edges for a flirty, wide-eyed look. Tip: Pull the corner of your eyelid taught for a more defined line.
4. Add glitter gel liner (Jemma Kidd Make Up School Crushed Jewel Gel Liner in Diamond, $20) over the dark line, apply glossy black mascara (Becca the Ultimate Mascara, $24), and fill in or draw on brows with a felt-tip pen (Anastasia Brow Pen in Universal Light Shade, $21). Complete the look by dabbing on a pure cherry red lip stain (Lipstick Queen Shine in Red Sinner, $22) and let the countdown begin.
