Hey ... they used my likeness for this painting ... I want my cut?

      Just kidding!

I love art of any kind! I think you should talk about art more often and educate us!

My leg might be Nicole Richie size, but the rest of me is Goddess size. Just the way more than fifty percent of the real women are.

I LOVE THIS! I've been feeling really self-concious lately because I'm 4'11" and 170 lbs. This painting makes me feel more accepting of my own voluptuous body and gives me the confidence boost I've been needing to flaunt my curves! :o)

I think its time to appreciate women as being "real" based on something other than size. Just because a women is able to stay in shape doesn't mean she isn't a "real women". The babies from my body, the home that I keep, the family I'm raising, the degree I hold, the work that I do, and the discipline I have to maintain my figure all prove that I am a REAL WOMEN, even though I'm not fat.

Glad to hear everyone enjoyed it, I saw the article and just had to post it up. You're right Ski Chick, real women are beautiful in every shape and form.

As for more art like this, I'm sure I can do some more research of plus-sized inspired art. Especially since the full figure form was once considered the ideal form during either the 1400s, or 1500s.

Yeah - well it kind of reminds me of my mom taking a nap -when she's drunk. I understand that the woman is beautiful - I also know how much many women are unhappy with all the bad things that go along with this kind of obesity. You crow all you want about liberating fat people but the truth is everyone knows that this is not the way we were meant to be. Evolution did not choose to do this to our people. Our economic interests did.

If you ask me, This artist is a rebel. The woman he painted is not gazing up at the spring sunshine through high windows. she is tired, maybe drunk, she is clutching her breast because it feels good, and she WAS possibly posing but has lost interest as indicated by her left hand still on the back of the sofa. The painting invites me to say "What is wrong with this woman?" "How can she be in such bad condition when she does such important work?"

Also, will the buyer put it on display somewhere so that it will have its full effect on the public or will it be hidden in in a personal gallery?

If you are fat and can relate to this woman, you may want to read: http://www.westonaprice.org/splash_2.htm

Now see I think she just looks comfortable and relaxed taking a nice nap. To me it has a different kind of beauty to it.

She must be really tired - they should have given her a pillow. Anyway it doesnt change my first impression. The idea of being portrayed in such an unflattering state probably would not have been the first choice of any woman being painted. The quality and unique ness is undeniable of course. But SERIOUSLY do you honestly think that this woman is healthy? There really is no way to tell except ask her.

Ladies and Gentlemen! It is time to learn the truth about media , politics and the experience of design.

The "Truth" about + size models is that, some women wanted to make a statement in the fashion world by saying that all women cannot be a size 0 or 2 , or 3, but in reality fashion is a business, and the only people that should be there "ARE BUYERS" and store owners who want to see the clothing not the shape of the models. True that most designers call for the skinny models, but that is only because they want to show off the best wears for top shelf space in the stores. When women begin to start making statements about size in the fashion world, it is not about the clothing, it is beginning to be about the jealousy that some women have for skinny women. When low and behold after 2 to 3 years, those same women who were saying those things about skinny women, now are skinny because they wanted to try something new.. + size people can still wear the clothing that was being displayed at the fashion show. The top designers will make it a special request or a certain line that is specially made. For this reason, for plus size women, it will cost you 10x more to make a permanent when those women arent going to stay that size. People need to just appreciate their size and stop bashing each other.
