We'll be the first to admit that black really does go with everything. It's slimming, effortless, and undoubtedly chic, but a closet devoid of any color can get a little, well ... blah. So we've rounded up the hottest colors that were all over the runway during Fashion Week. Our favorite designers amped things up with bold hues and rainbow-inspired collections that brought us back to our Crayola and Lisa Frank days. Consider this a great excuse to ditch the black, and work some uber-bright shades into your wardrobe.
Juicy tangerine was one of the most popular colors of Fashion Week. Models at Lauren Moffatt wore midi-length dresses with pops of aqua; Jenny Packham's collection was brimming with orange shift dresses and accessories; and Kate Spade featured picnic-perfect tangelo gingham.
The unofficial girly-girl shade, Pepto pink definitely made a cheerful statement at Fashion Week. There were tweed jackets and mini skirts at Kate Spade; models wore dramatic Pepto pink eye shadow at Peter Som; and Oscar de la Renta's show was an ode to all things frilly and feminine with shocking pink bows and delicate lace.
With all the yellow on the runway, Fashion Week was like a ray of sunshine. Models at Timo Weiland wore houndstooth prints and flirty mini skirts; there were lemon-colored blazers at Jenny Kayne; and Kate Spade featured fluorescent manicures and clutches.
If you're not familiar with cerulean blue, it's time to get know this bright jewel tone. Alice + Olivia presented short geometric shift dresses in the captivating color; Nonoo paired brilliant blue slacks with night sky printed blouses and blazers; and Oscar De La Renta wove streaks of cerulean blue through his model's updos.
