    Remembering Alexander McQueen, 1969-2010

World renowned designer Alexander McQueen was found dead this morning in his London apartment. He was 40 years old. The British native, who broke into the London fashion scene in 1996, was known for his precise tailoring, imaginative and outrageous clothes and 13 years of fantastical runway shows. He was also a favorite among edgier, fashion-forward celebs-his designs were often seen on stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Rihanna. McQueen was named British designer of the year four times throughout his career and will be remembered as an entertainer and a true style visionary. We rounded up some of his most memorable designs, above.

I'm not a huge fashion fan or anything but looking at his pieces that are posted here I have to say he had a talent. Sad, he and his vision will be missed.

A shame that people feel the need to make such nasty comments...I hope that people show you the same sympathies when you leave this earth.

For the people asking how he died...he took his own life. He had lost his mother less than two weeks ago, and had been going through some emotional issues as of late. It's incredibly sad that he left in this way...he was incredibly gifted, and a visionary.

No one (meaning, the average consumer) wears clothing from the runway, much of it is Haute Couture and is made to be worn specifically on the runway and/or on the red carpet. The clothing we buy in stores are extremely watered down versions or inspired by what we see on the runway. I think that would be obvious.

One word of advice: DON'T KNOCK SOMEONE ELSE'S HUSTLE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE TALENT TO DO IT YOURSELF...you don't have to like what he's done, but do not downplay the art. Many of us don't have have a fraction of the talent he had to contribute anything to what he has in the fashion arena.

      R.I.P. Mr. McQueen

It's such a shame when a talented designer moves on, especially at such a young age... imagine what his designs could look like in twenty, thirty years... may he rest in peace!

It is so sad when someone so young with soooo much creativity leaves us before they can really soar.

      To a few of you:

No, you wouldnt see someone wearing these out everyday. McQueen's creations were pure art in the form of clothes, head-pieces, etc. They were truly special, as not many people have that kind of talent. People's tastes differ from one another, but i believe we can all agree when i say this: Alexander's pieces were truly unique, and in my opinion, absolutely breathtaking, fantastic, and beautiful. You dont have to agree with me, but at least respect.

RIP McQueen, you and your designs will be missed

I keep reading it's suicide, but has that been released officially? It would seem that to come to that conclusion this quickly then perhaps there was a suicide note. That would me wonder about the possibility of a mood disorder. If not, it may have been an accident. I am sorry for those who loved him.

I am sure he will be missed by many. Personally, I find the above pictures absolutely grotesque looking and nothing that any sane person would wear out of doors. As I recall, many of you, just a couple of months back, were poking fun at and leaving demeaning comments about these very same shoes that were, at the time, showcased on Yahoo. I can't say I blame you. But just because the man passed on does not compel me to come onto these boards & oooh & aaahh about something I find to be hideous. As to Mr. McQueen, may he rest in peace.

It is such a shame that a man with such beautiful talent passed on so early. If only we could see his designs in 10, 20 years, now THAT would have been amazing. May he rest in peace...

well liz sorry to disappoint you but this is simply another hanging gone bad. seems he had a noose that just wouldnt quit. fashionistas of the world unite tonight and pray that this dreaded death is not forsaken. rise above this and show the world that he didnt die in vein. Nay he died to show us that rope when used in a manner unfitting of rope can cause problems.
