A terrorist plot that revolves around beauty is once again in the news. An Al-Qaeda group in Saudi Arabia was apparently planning to poison bottles of perfume and send them as gifts to local government officials, journalists, and religious scholars whom they opposed. The plot was foiled when Saudi Arabia recently arrested more than a hundred members of the group.

Last fall, Najibullah Zazi was arrested for allegedly plotting to detonate explosives in the United States. He had apparently purchased unusually large quantities of hydrogen peroxide and acetone-based products from beauty supply stores in Denver and was mixing the materials in a local hotel room to create a potent bomb.
