    Salma Hayek quit acting to make a beauty line for CVS

Photo by Getty Images.We haven't seen Salma Hayek on the big screen in years (her last gigs were brief TV stints on "30 Rock" and "Ugly Betty") and now we know why: she quit acting to create her own drugstore beauty line!

    Hayek presented her 100-piece Nuance beauty line for CVS on Thursday, and Women's Wear Daily got the scoop. 10 years ago, Hayek got the idea for Nuance which is inspired by her grandmother, a cosmetologist who trained at Vichy in Paris and used Native Mexican and Mayan beauty secrets for her products. Hayek's line is filled with family favorite ingredients like rosewater and tepezcohuite, an evergreen tree found in Brazil. For the past six years she has worked on the products and concept which finally went into production three years ago.

    The last thing Hayek would like you think that that Nuance is just some lazy celebrity collaboration she slapped her name on. "I took three years off my career to work on this," Hayek told WWD. "This is not something that required 14 hours. Nooo, baby. This has been a full-time job." Hayek says she held many meetings with laboratories and suppliers "who didn't mind some crazy Mexican coming to them over and over and over again asking them to change something." Ha! She admits she can be difficult to work with. "I am not easy...I mean, I am a double Virgo."

    Nuance will be available in August exclusively in 7,000 CVS Pharmacy stores and online and products will range from $7.99 to $19.99. We wish we didn't have to wait so long to try it out-if these products are approved by Salma Hayek, maybe they can lend us just a little bit of her drop dead gorgeous looks. Now here's to hoping she'll get back in front of the camera!
