Remember that old television commercial for body lotion in which the model, with her fingernail, scraped the word "dry" into her leg? That was disgusting.
Even grosser is that I can do it. My skin is is parched.
But now that spring is upon us and my gams are about to be exposed, I'm busting out the best body scrubs that money can buy. (I always remind myself that even the prettiest Anthropologie skirt looks like a rag against chalky, dry legs.)
Here, my top three:
Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish. When I first got into this biz, one of the PR girls at Fresh called me to tell me she just sent an "amaaaazing" product to my office. Since most publicists describe their brands' products as such, I took her description with a grain of salt scrub. But then I tried this one, and WOW. The sweet scent and sugar crystals with all the oil floating on top, left me feeling and smelling like dessert. That was the last time a publicist's rave of "amaaaazing" was accurate.
De-Lux Foaming Scrub in Lavender. Equal parts scrub and soap, this creamy-yet-grainy concoction makes my skin feel super clean but not stripped bare. It must be the aloe vera and vegetable glycerin that keeps this scrub from being all scrape-y. Also, I'm a sucker for lavender-whether or not you believe in aromatherapy, I swear, that stuff mellows you OUT.Christian Dior Bikini Perfecting Scrub Oil Exfoliator. Hate pits, nuts, apricot seeds and other shrapnel in your scrub? Then you'll obsess over this delicate body scrub. Made with microbeads that burst on contact with the skin, this exfoliator is the most gentle of the lot. Massage the purple gel on your body, watch the gel morph into a creamy milk, and feel how soft and velvety your skin is afterward. Go on, touch it. Crazy, right?
