Secret Clinical Strength Waterproof Formula = No Sweat

Confession: I have never used an antiperspirant before. Body powder, body spray, and deodorant, yes, antiperspirant, no. Now before you get all judgey and assume I am not someone you would want to stand down wind of, let me just say I am a mild sweater and I don't stink (that I know of). While I have a horror of smelling like mushroom soup on a hot day, I don't have the same horror of sweating. Sorry, so back to the original statement: I have never used anti-perspirant before. I had nothing to compare Secret's Clinical Strength Waterproof solid to. Having said that I will say that this anti-perspirant/deodorant does everything it claims to do. It provided all day wetness protection, a light clean scent, and it didn't irritate my sensitive skin.

I tested this product in a myriad of situations. The first day I applied it to only one underarm. As an aside I thought that two clicks, the recommended amount of antiperspirant, was way too much product to apply to one small area. The day I applied it to one underarm I was actively packing up a classroom from 8:20 to 3:20. The underarm with the product remained dry and fresh smelling, the underarm without, not so much. The next day I applied it to both underarms, I worked at my moderately active first job at a school from 8:20 to 3:20 and then I went to my second slightly more physically demanding job at a retail store from 4:30 to 10:00. That is approximately a 13 hour day, and I was still dry and fresh smelling at the end of it. Another day I applied it in the morning and went for a 2-mile walk, I varied my walking speed, and while I "worked up a sweat" I was still fresh and dry. The one scenario that I did not test was in the water, I don't belong to a pool or frequent the beach so the waterproof part of the product was lost on me, although I did still smell remotely like the deodorant even after showering.

Final thoughts. While I have an aversion to fragrance in general, the scent in the deodorant was light and not oppressive, I would liken it to fresh linens. The click applicator made it easy to gauge how much product to dispense, although two clicks is way too much. The antiperspirant went on faintly white, but disappeared completely after it dried, which took about three minutes. I know sometimes deodorants leave tell tale white marks on clothes, but I put on a black shirt and did not see any markings left behind. This product is effective and easy to use, but I would not consider purchasing it again. The reason for this is I don't like that antiperspirant interferes with the body's natural production of sweat. For the curious, find out how antiperspirant works here. While there has been no conclusive evidence linking the ingredients in antiperspirant to cancer, I would prefer to choose more natural beauty products, which have less of an impact on the environment. This is my own personal philosophy; other people have different priorities and will choose a product based on their needs, effectiveness, value, etc… Secret Clinical Strength Antiperspirant works very well, it's just not my cup of tea.

Secret Clinical Strength antiperspirant/deoderant is available in the deodorant aisle at food and drug stores and mass retailers nationwide. It retails for $7.99 - $9.99.
