Even though I'm old enough that I could have been her babysitter, I have a slight obsession with Taylor Swift. I can't help it -- the girl is gorgeous, I love her curly hair, and I totally want to steal her boyfriend (and I'm not the only one).
So I was pretty psyched when I actually got to see her -- yep, in person -- at the CoverGirl 50th anniversary party. She looked stunning, and of course I had to get the scoop on how to recreate her hair and makeup ... uh, not that I'm trying to look like her or anything ...
(Side note: Since Taylor is the newest CoverGirl her makeup artist used their products exclusively, but I'm pretty sure you could totally rock this look with what's already in your makeup bag.)
Here's her makeup how-to from Makeup Artist Lorrie Turk:
I prepped her face with CoverGirl Simply Ageless Serum Primer and applied CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Alabaster with a brush and blended with a sponge. You can also apply the foundation by mixing it in your palm and applying directly with your fingers. The foundation gave Taylor a polished finish.
On her eyes, I used CoverGirl LiquiLineBlast in Black Fire to create the minimal winged liner. We didn't want to make the eyes too dramatic since we were focusing on a bright lip. I finished the eyes by curling her lashes and applying CoverGirl LashBlast Volume in Black. (Need more help creating the perfect cat eye? Get it here).
Taylor's lips were the standout of the look. I first used CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lip Liner in Passion to line her lips and also help the color stay through the night. I then finished the lip by applying CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Flame. (Not sure if orange-red is the right shade for you? Check out this guide to the best lipstick for your skin tone.)
Of course, that's only half of the hotness, here's how to get her hairstyle (you can check out tons more of her looks here):
1. Right when you get out of the shower, part your hair to the side.
2. Apply smoothing cream to damp curls and shake them out; let them air dry. If your hair is naturally straight, use a 1-inch curling iron to curl all of your hair.
3. Finger comb all of your hair into a low bun, and secure it with an elastic.
4. Leave a few pieces of hair out around your face, and re-curl them with a curling iron if needed. Mist all over with strong-hold hairspray to finish.
OK, let the transformation begin, Jake, here I come! (Just kidding … kind of.)
