Tacky Fashion Choices That Turn Us Off

    iStockphotoiStockphoto

Kelly Osbourne has a bone to pick with some ladies' style. The "Dancing With The Stars" contestant was reportedly overheard saying at Teen Vogue's Young Hollywood party, "that she was 'shocked' at how short the skirts of female partygoers were since they were all so young." We're not sure when Miss Osbourne became such a prude, but obviously short skirts make her peeved. [NY Post]

Jealousy? Perhaps. But maybe just a natural reaction. How many times do you walk down the street, check out another woman's outfit and think, Why? Whyyyy? Why, oh lord in heaven, would you ever wear that? What fashion choices piss you off? A few from us, after the jump.

    • Fake designer bags
    • Thongs hanging out
    • Jersey-girl-cliché Juicy track suits
    • Tights as pants
    • Platform flip-flops
    • Visible panty lines
    • Anything that is too tight-too tight is not a fit
    • Baby tees
    • French manicures
    • Gross sneakers with an otherwise nice outfit

And now to you ... by all means, fire away!--Leonora Epstein for The Frisky

I agree JF, I like a natural looking french manicure - and I cannot afford a real designer bag so... ugh... guess I am super offensive... I don't get boys in skinny jeans personally & find it just UGLY gross gross gross!! And high wasted "mom" jeans are just awful on anyone (Sorry Rhianna - I know u r trying to give them a comeback but please DON'T!)

Me and some classmates were just talking about seeing thongs yesterday. Really we don't want to see your asscrack! >.<

-sweatpants worn in public (no, they are NOT cute)
      -flip flops period
-low rise pants that cause a 'muffin top'
-Tevas or Birkenstocks (no thanks to ugly, hairy toes)
-dressing age inappropriate (I saw a 45 year old dressed like a teen YIKES)

French manicures are just not modern and are best left for your wedding day. If you dont like dark polish on your fingers, go with some of the beautiful light polishes or buff.

VPL doesn't usually bother me, either. And I don't think disliking super short-skirts makes Kelly a "prude"--they get on my nerves too. Along with sheer clothes, whale tale, and orangy-fake tans.

another thing there's nothing wrong with wearing anything childish after a certain age. I absolutely love Princess Jasmine and if I could find a shirt with her on it I would wear it I'm 25. It doesn't show your a child it shows that you love that what ever it is your wearing and that your proud of it. It gives a sense of individuality. If everyone wore the same thing the world would be very boring and cheap. It's our styles that gives us our personalities, and our uniqueness and our individuality.
TO EVERYONE WHO HAS THERE OWN STYLE AND DOESN'T FOLLOW ANY TREND KEEP AT IT, ROCK ON, YOUR THE ONES WHO SHINE IN A CROWD.
For those who follow crowds, or trends your sheep and you will always be sheep until you find and get out of other peoples shadow and find your own style.

The very low v-necks at all the stores now. I don't want layers all the time!

What constitutes "high waisted" jeans? I prefer jeans that fit to my natural waist, instead of sitting so low you can see the top of my pubic hair or the crack of my a$$ hanging out of them. Gah! Not to mention that those of us with a little "mom" belly sure don't need to have it hanging out over the top of low-rise jeans. Double yuck. Muffin tops are plain nasty.

French Manicures are not tacky. Guess you prefer the long dark nails! TACKY!

That's out of line...french manicures rock. I really hate giant hoodies! pointy bra's! Sweat pants that don't touch the ground.

My least favorites are the mile-high bang bumps people wear on their heads, honestly. Small ones don't bother me, but the ones that look like another head, ew. And I know Ugg boots are really popular, and so are those slipper moccasin type shoes, but I think both styles are so plain and boring and relatively ugly.
And people who think wearing a white bra under a white shirt means no one can see it. It just radiates from under.

      1) Skinny jeans (I don't care what size you are, they are incredibly unflattering!)
      2) Thongs. Period.
      3) Stripper heels
      4) Wearing see-through shirts with dark colored bras underneath with no cami or tank

French manicures aren't so bad. Here in Oklahoma they're considered classy

I agree with the list, just one more thing people wearing the wrong bra

What's wrong with french manicures? I think they're classy when they're not the freakishly long acrylic ones. And sorry I can't afford your super expensive designer bags. I think a knockoff that doesn't have the label plastered all over it like some Coach purses is just as nice.

What's wrong with french manicures? I think they're elegant and a great way to do your nails when you don't want them to take over your outfit. They're very classy.

Things that really bug me though? Clothes that don't fit. Socks with sandles. Flip flops. I really, really can't stand flip flops. They should stay at the beach. Unwashed hair. Really anything that screams a person doesn't care about how they look or how they present themselves to the world. It makes me feel like they don't care about themselves and that's depressing.

I'm also going to say a good French manicure, that isn't too long or too square, always looks tidy and chic. If the nail extends just barely past the tip of the finger with a white tip and sheer pink or beige polish, then it's good for pretty much any occasion. If it's too long and the corners are sharp, find yourself a new manicurist.
I must admit I'm guilty of the gross sneakers with a nice outfit thing, but only because I walk to and from work (about 5 miles round-trip) and I carry my nice shoes to and from the office, but don't want to walk that far in high heels. And I'm always aware of how awful it looks.
And if I might add a few more things to the list:
Sandals or other open-toed shoes with unpolished toenails and crusty heels (ew!)
      Freakishly long airbrushed fingernails
Designer eyeglasses with way-too-prominent logos, or too-prominent logos on anything, but the glasses thing really annoys me because I need glasses but don't want to broadcast the designer, but I won't cheap out on glasses and want to buy well-made frames that last a long time. But these days all the well-made glasses have gaudy logos. Grr. I wish I could find some like the Gucci frames I had about 9 years ago, didn't say "Gucci" anywhere visible. Ok, done venting about that.

I say to each their own... you don't have to like so don't wear it. Not everyone has money to swing designer bags... I think it is snobby to call it tacky when someone has a knock off. Wear what ever makes you happy and feels good, who cares if I or anyone else agrees.

alot of what this post lists is right on i hav to say but you'd really rag on somebody for having a fake designer hand bag? why?
    • Nanci  •  2 years 8 months ago
Ripped or torn jeans! Why, why why pay your good money for torn clothes? Also, on guys, the stupid little fedora hats that are too small for their enormous melons. No More!
