I'm a *total* sucker for celebrities. So when I got an invitation to attend "An Evening of Luxury With a Great Price" and meet the beautiful Lindsay Price (from "Lipstick Jungle"), I was stoked!
Let me just report that Lindsay is even more stunning in person than she is on television. I couldn't stop admiring her luminous skin. She is also very nice and really smart. So I now officially hate her ;)
We talked about recessionista strategies and got a chance to try out a new line of coordinating body sprays and anti-perspirants from Degree Women, the host of the event.
Here are Lindsay's favorite tips for satisfying the urge to splurge on:
- Accessories. Check out vintage shops and flea markets for cool pieces at great prices.
- Scent. High-quality fragrance doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. Degree Women now offers Fine Fragrance body mists with matching anti-perspirant. The bloggers at the event were treated to samples from the line, and they smell dreamy!
- Makeup. Splurge on key items like foundation (there's that glowing skin), good brushes, and eye shadows. Save on mascara and lip gloss which are used frequently and need to be replaced more often.
- Your overall style. You can find a variety of sample sale Web sites now that offer major savings on luxury brand clothing lines, so you can look like a million bucks without spending top dollar. In fact, Lindsay proudly told us her shoes were, "half-price Fendi!"
Bloggers received free Flip Videos to capture the eventThen we turned our attention and our noses to the samples that were all around us. The Degree Women Body Mists actually beat out department store fragrances in sniff tests. Degree enlisted top industry "nose" Ann Gottlieb to design the line, and the investment pays off. These are classy-smelling sprays, as well as anti-perspirants. My favorite (as well as my new BFF, Lindsay's) is Sexy Intrigue. It has vanilla, my all time favorite scent.
The other two scents in the line are Delicious Bliss, with hints of fruit and flowers, and Classic Romance, which is floral notes with citrus scents.
I have to admit that I really like having an anti-perspirant that has a sophisticated smell, rather than just "fresh" or "sporty," which tend to remind me of a gas station restroom.
Next time I bump into Lindsay, I'll tell her "hi" for you ;)
