Teen wears $25,000 Oscar gown to prom

(Family Photo via Oakland Press/AP …The Academy Awards is like the prom for celebrities. But for one high school student, the prom was like the Academy Awards. Kayla Staskiewicz wore a $25,000 Versace gown, once worn by Christina Ricci to the Oscars. To be clear, Kayla isn't the latest spoiled teen to appear on a reality show. She's a hard-working Waterford, Michigan teen who won a contest held by a local TV station.

It was her dad who initially entered her to the win the floor length, sparkling embellished gown. When Kayla heard the news she'd won, she was working as a 6th grade camp counselor and had to wait a few days before she could even try it on. "Any free chance I had I would call my parents to get more information about the dress," writes Kayla on the community website, Click on Detroit. Quickly, her excitement turned to dread, when she worried she wouldn't be able to fit into the size zero dress that earned fashion applause for Ricci in 1990.

On the big day, Kayla fit into her dress like Cinderella (as her mom describes it). "Everyone loved the way I looked and I felt good about myself," Kayla recalls. "I even had people that I don't normally talk to come up to me and tell me I looked pretty and had the most beautiful dress at the prom."

While it's become common for prom dresses to take their inspiration from celebrity gowns (thanks to designer knock-off labels like Faviana), few have actually been passed down from A-listers. That means Kayla's Oscar gown belongs to an elite group of prom dresses that are almost as famous as the people who wore them. Here's a look at some other gowns that lived beyond high school's biggest night.

So is it hers to keep now? Or did she just win it to wear at the prom and has to give it back after?

How can a woman be a size zero? Does that mean she doesn't exist?

I used to wear size 0 when I met my husband. (89lbs) then I "graduated" into a size 3, then to a 5, for many yrs.I used to shop at a store called 5,7,9,
Even after having two kids. Now I am a grandmother. Lately in the past 2 yrs. for the first time, I am so mad about my size...(BIG) so sorry, won't say what size.
