The 10 Best Celebrity Hair Moments of 2010

From drastic pixie cuts to old Hollywood-like waves, here are our picks for the 10 best celebrity hair moments of the year.

    1. Keira Knightley's Posh Bob
What better time for the face of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle to show off a chic new 'do than at the Chanel fashion show in Paris? The British actress made a bold (and brilliant) move by opting for a face-framing bob with longer layers in the front.

25 Must-Have Cosmetics for the Season

    2. Emma Watson's Pretty Pixie
The Harry Potter actress stunned fans (including us!) by debuting her freshly chopped locks in this black and white photo she posted on Facebook in August, adding, "Feels incredible. I love it. I've wanted to do this for years and years; it's the most liberating thing ever."

Gorgeous Hairstyles You'll Want to Try Now

    3. Taylor Swift's Silky Strands

Our jaws dropped when Taylor Swift hit the red carpet with silky smooth stick-straight locks at this year's American Music Awards-and we mean that in a good way!

Party-Ready Celeb Hair and Makeup Looks You Can Recreate!

    4. Emma Stone's Retro Waves

The actress, who recently went back to her blonde roots, wowed us with her Veronica Lake-like waves at the Vanity Fair Oscar party back in March.

Skincare Products We Can't Live Without

    5. Carey Mulligan's "Mistake"

Although the actress stated that she hated her hair and that the cut was the product of a bad bleach job, we actually adore it-especially because she changes it up to everything from whimsically wispy (as shown here at the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps premier) to a punk-rock pompadour.

25 Sexy New Year's Eve Dresses

    6. Zooey Deschanel's Bold Bangs
We love how Zooey's style seamlessly combines edgy blunt bangs with romantic long tendrils. Here's the actress/singer sporting her signature look at an awards ceremony back in February.

    7. Beyonce's Sleek 'Do
Although we're fans of Beyonce's gorgeous curls, we like that she changes it up with a super-straight strands, such as at the launch of her fragrance Heat at Macy's earlier this year.

    25 Show-Stopping Engagement Rings

    8. Michelle Williams' '60s Style
Channeling Twiggy never looked better! The highly acclaimed actress attended the Venice Film Festival in September with a cropped platinum 'do that nods to '60s style.

Gorgeous (and Affordable) Accessories and Jewelry

    9. Ashley Greene's Haute Highlights

Although the Twilight star has been known to play with color, she nailed it with just the right amount of highlights to frame her face and complement her smoldering style at the MTV Video Music Awards in September.

    10. Sandra Bullock's Award-Winning Coif

This year's Oscar winner for Best Actress showed us that you don't need bells and whistles when it comes to a red carpet-worthy 'do. She let her hair down but still managed to look polished, picturesque, and poised to accept her award!

"80% of women have CURLS in their hair. why don't represent us curly girls?"

Because these hair styles are set by a community that has something other than "real" women and what straight males find attractive. That's a simple fact. Most straight men - not all, but most - find long hair far more attractive than short. Even most men who like shorter cuts don't like these boyish cuts. Most men prefer some curl or wave in a woman's hair to set off the shine and color of it, and because it biologically appeals more to men in the same way that other cues of beauty that arise naturally (like, say, waves and curls) appeal to them.

But the community that sets these standards don't like any of that. They don't like wavy, and they really hate curls. Make of it what you will.

Is this what it has come down to ? You would think that there are more IMPORTANT matters to write about than celebrity hairdo's ....WHO CARES ????.........GOOD GRIEF !!!!!

For all the poeple who are saying "aren't their better things to write about"... Uh, this is "fashion and beauty" on Shine. Obviously they are not going to takle about world news here. Scedaddle on over to yahoo finance or something if you want to read about important stuff.

I wish jerks wouldn't feel the need the comment on articles they think are a waste of time and who say they don't care....why waste time even reading it, let alone actually post a comment? The heading very plainly says what the article is about...if you're not interested, DON'T READ THE ARTICLE! Simple as that.....

If all the elitest 'celebrities' vanished at this moment, the world would be a better place. Hollywood is turning into the inbred nation, keeping it in the family.

keira knightley is one scary creature. That smile on the Y! homepage looks like something out of a horror movie. Yikes.

Sandra would have looked so much better without the red lips...neutral would have enhanced her beauty

The one poster got it right when she said Taylor Swift was wearing a wig. If you people think there's not hair extensions going on some of these too, you're crazy. Also, these people didn't do their own hair in the majority of these, so who gives?
    • Vincit Omnia Veritas  •  1 year 5 months ago
How could they leave out Tom Brady?!
    • Mia  •  1 year 5 months ago
      To the posters that said men hate short hair, I say;

      1. All men do not hate short hair, I know a few who actually prefer a woman with short hair and no, the men are not gay.
      2. Not EVERYTHING a woman does is for a man. If a woman wants a pixie cut, she should get it.

To those who say that women with short hair are lazy and it's "like wearing sweats": HA! I recently cut my hair into a pixie and I have never had to spend more time on my hair! I usually have to style it twice a day. Wet it down, blowdry, product, clever rearranging, more product... It also requires me to spend more time on my makeup and clothing so I can still appear feminine. I am growing it back into a bob because I liked the bob better, and it was also a little easier to care for.

And it is also not true that all women look better with long hair. I had long hair for years and it weighed me down tremendously because I am so petite. My hair is fine and somewhat lifeless so it just hung there unattractively and obscured my decent features like my long neck and shapely cheekbones. I got no male attention with the waist-length hair. I got all kinds of male attention when I cut it into a bob.

I think Sandra Bullock looks terrible in this picture. She needs a new hairstyle and needs to get rid of those bright red lips. She is so cute -- why does she do this to herself?

Who made this judgement call - Helen Keller?
