    The Best Drugstore Mascaras

    I'll admit it. I have puny, anemic, pathetic excuses for eyelashes. Without mascara (are you using the right one?) my eyes just fade into the oblivion that is my sorry eyeless face. OK. Maybe I'm exaggerating a tad. But I'm annoyed. I've tried falsies (want to try too? This video's pretty rad), dabbled with the worst mascaras on the market, tried tricks for getting the longest, thickest lashes ever and test-driven nearly every single one of the best mascaras for length and volume, but still feel like I'm coming up short. (And, scrawny and invisible.)

    Then I decided that I wasn't going to get mad -- I was going to get GOOD LASHES -- and without breaking the bank. I combed through oodles upon oodles of Total Beauty reader reviews and the result? This comprehensive list of the 12 Best Drugstore Mascaras and I'm taking each and every one for a whirl in the hopes of finding my one, true love. (Which then they'll, no doubt, discontinue.)

      I have no idea how the elf clear mascara is on this list! It does exactly the oppisite, it clumps lashes together and makes them fall out! I love other elf products, but was so disappointed by this one!

      Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara is fabulous! I know they don't test on animals and is PETA approved. When applying this mascara, I use the tip of the brush and it keeps my lashes curled after curling them too!

      Avon sells an amaing mascara clld ANEW(lash transforming, it has the mascara and lash serum that you put on before you apply the mascara. It never really clumps and it does wonders on my eyelashes. I will never use another mascara again!!

      ALMOST EVERYTHING WE WEAR HAS HORRIBLE CHEMICALS THAT LEAD TO CANCER AND BLINDNESS, ESPECIALLY MASCARA! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS CRAP? LADIES, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH ON INGREDIENTS OF EVERYTHING YOU WEAR BECAUSE 90% of what you think is great, cheap and awesome will hurt you in the long-run. (IF YOU CARE!) AND ALMOST 98% OF THE TIME THERE ARE BARELY ANY ACCURATE INGREDIENT LABELS ON THE COSMETICS/PRODUCTS YOU WEAR! whether it's cheap or expensive brands, it doesn't matter!!!

      Well, shocker here that you didn't suggest the one in the pink and green tube, Maybelline Great Lash...I've tried 2 different times to wear that over the years and both times it gave me an eye infection. That is a definite NO on my list. I wear Dior, Lancome, or Fairdrops.

      Wow, I don't know how good any of these products are, but I want to know where this review lives so I can get those prices. I live in a Chicago suburb and mascare generally runs from $8-14.

      Ladies, ladies, ladies!!! I can't believe that "Loreal Paris TELESCOPIC in Carbon Black" didn't make this list! So I had to let you all know that this is a secret weapon for sure. Everyone that I've ever told about this secret, has sworn by it since I let them in on it. I have tried all of the above except the clear one (yeeaa right) and I always go back to my Telescopic. Always. I will never buy another mascara again. Please please take my advice! I promise it'll be the best decision you've made!!

      Is Rimmel water proof as well? I have used Maybelline for many many years. Tried top of the cosmetic choices and always go back to tired and true. Would like to try something new since my tired old eyes need a lift.
