I admit it. I'm completely scared of highlights, unlike these hair dye addicted celebs. It seems like everywhere I look, I constantly see bad highlighting jobs. Case in point: the cocktail waitress at my favorite bar. She's a beautiful girl, but has these huge white skunk streaks in her naturally gorgeous dark brown hair. Every time I hit up the bar, all I can do is stare at those streaks and think about how much more beautiful she would look without them.
OK, that's an extreme example --and even experts make major hair mistakes, like these -- but seriously, how many times do you see women with orange (formerly blonde) or brassy highlights? Or highlights that just don't go with her existing hue? It was these concerns that brought me to Marco Pelusi of Marco Pelusi Hair Studio Inc. in West Hollywood. Together we looked through a ton of hair colors and discussed what highlights work best for which shade. And, I also got a few beginner questions answered, for all the other newbies out there.
Look through our gallery and find your shade. Then, see what highlights Marco recommends for your specific color. It's kinda like having your own personal hair color expert. And I know he doesn't advise skunk streaks. For anyone.
