If Your Face is Oval
Since ovals can pull off pretty much any look, celebrity hair stylist Oscar Blandi recommends going for a pixie that's super short all over to maximize drama. Score a look like Emma Watson's by requesting that your hairdresser cut your hair an inch or an inch and half long. Styling is so easy: Just wash and wear if you want a casual daytime look, or apply a light gel to damp hair and tousle for a glam evening out.
If Your Face is Oval Round
Cutler suggests asking your stylist to add a little height at the top with longer layers, similar to Ginnifer Goodwin's. Find out why guys love this style! This elongates the shape of your face. Then, blow dry your hair with a round brush or smooth a styling cream on damp hair and rake your fingers through to get texture, which balances out the gentle curves of your face.
If Your Face is Square
Leaving a little hair at the nape of your neck softens a strong jawline, Cutler notes - ask your stylist to cut it longer in the back, like Carey Mulligan's (whose face falls somewhere between a square and a heart shape). After blowdrying, use your fingers to tuft out or tease the extra wisps behind your ears. Dab on pomade to keep them in place.
If your face is angular
Your great cheekbones can get hidden under a longer 'do, but they'll really stand out if you have a short style, Blandi says. Especially if you steal Rihanna's color secrets. He recommends Rihanna-esque sweeping bangs to amplify the effect - they draw focus to your cheekbones by resting against your face and ending just below your eyes. Use a flat iron and gentle hold spray to help them fall in just the right spot.
