Trade Guns for Beyoncé Tickets: It’s an idea!

Beyoncé’s world tour tickets are currently being scalped for as much as $800. But there's a chance some fans will be able to barter for their tickets when the Mrs. Carter tour comes to New York in the summer.

Michael "Blue" Williams, manager for artists like Outkast and CeeLo, has proposed a gun control initiative called “Guns for Greatness.” Instead of receiving cash, anyone who turned in guns to their police station would receive free mentoring and tickets to Beyoncé’s tour, which kicks off at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center in August.

“The Beyoncé show is coming to Brooklyn; the Jay-Z show is coming to Yankee Stadium. Our goal is to reach out to individuals who are in my industry, in my world and who I have an association with and get their support,” Williams, 43, told the Daily News. ““I think we should all work together to help get guns off the streets.”

Though there’s been no official word from Beyonce as of yet, fans on Twitter expressed their support for the idea, with conditions.

Why Beyoncé? Obviously, tickets to the Mrs. Carter tour are sure to be a hot-commodity. But she’s also an advocate for gun control. After the Sandy Hook shootings, she appeared Mayor Bloomberg’s “demand a plan” campaign to ask Congress for tighter restrictions on assault weapons.

If Williams gets the go-ahead from New York's PoLICE Commissioner, he plans to launch the program on March 23. He said he would also pursue ticket donations from Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake for their joint tour that kicks off at Yankee Stadium in July. So far, Williams has raised $75,000 for the project.

Williams was moved to get involved with gun control after his business partner Christ Lightly, co-founder of Violator records, committed suicide by shooting himself last summer. ““It was just sort of like a pushing point,” Williams told the Daily News. “It eventually convinced me that one person can make a difference if they believe in something.”
