Underwear Vending Machines Coming to Gyms, Hotels, and Airports Near You

Underwear vending machines: creepy or practical?Underwear vending machines: creepy or practical? You may have bought some Doritos, rented RedBox DVDs, or scooped up Sephora makeup from a vending machine, but wouldn't it be convenient to buy other necessities on the go? This seems to be the logic of creative entrepreneurs looking to make their wares more accessible and useful to consumers. Last year we wrote about Rollasole affordable flats popping up in machines at night clubs-we think they're a brilliant idea for ladies who dance up a storm in heels and are forced teeter home barefoot. But we're not sure if we'll be stuffing quarters into a machine for the latest vending treat: underwear.

Me Undies is setting up booths at retail stores, gyms, hotels, airports where you can buy your skivvies of choice. Punch in the number of your desired undergarment and panties, thongs, boxers, or briefs will come out in a CD-like package. The first one is already set up at the Confederacy boutique on Hollywood Boulevard. Clean undies may be really helpful in a pinch, but how often have you ever though, "Gee, I wish I had an extra pair of clean underwear?" Hopefully not too often! But maybe we'd suggest placing these machines in ladies rooms so purchases could be a little more discreet.

Now extra clean socks we can get behind. Whether you sweat them up at the gym or stepped in a puddle, extra socks are always handy. Me Undies will be adding socks as well as t-shirts to their vending machine wares within the next few months. We suppose clean fresh underthings at the press of a button is never a bad thing.

Would you ever buy underwear from a vending machine?

I assume that there would be underwear for men and women in these machines so it could be a nice convenience for emergencies. I wash new clothes before I wear them but in an emergency purchase like this it would be better than wearing soiled underwear.

This would be a better concept if they were those 'emergency shoes'. You know those cute little fold-up ballet flats. Put that on the LV Strip, in an airport, or a night club! That's a million $$ idea! Women are always having shoe issues.

        true so very, very true.

It’s a great idea, but I never wear undies I just bought without a washing them first. Even if they are in a bag! Soo this wouldn’t work well for me!

I went on their site and looked at that and i found it kind of weird that their largest size was a L (10-12) I dont know if they are aware but the avg size for a woman now is 14.

Nope! Waay too skittish about those things! I don't use undies/lingerie unless I wash it first.

well like you said you could just wash it after getting it?
      • Celestina 2 months ago
Well, yes, but that defeats the purpose of getting emergency underwear.

I think it's not a bad idea. Someone gets sick on them selves or has some issues & needs new undies or shirt, it would be real handy. That's just one person's opinion though.

I see the concept of this, .....but honestly I wouldn't buy underwear from a vending machine. Still disturbing. Let alone Japan had the same idea, but they had used underwear for perverts to purchase.

I would say it's a great idea. Especially if your toddler is potty training and has an accident trying to make it to the toilet. Sometimes you just don't think to carry an extra pair of undies or pants with you. So maybe a pair of undies and pants for the tots. And the thought of having them in the restroom is a better location. I would hope they are not biased on the size selection though. Would hate to see these popping up and not see them carrying a wide size selection.

This is a GREAT idea that I wish I'd thought of. I've gone on many an overnight business trip and forgotten key essentials. I bet this will do well in hotels.

make'em out of a reycleable, disposable product.. no wash, just throw away.. be great for travelling

I think this would be great only in case of are rare emergency. Socks would be ok if u got in rain or mud or ur feet get cold for some reason. This would also be great for small children too.

Don't most retail stores already sell underwear?

I travel for business, and I've gone on many a trip, arrived late at night for an early morning meeting and realized I forgot something "essential". I would have purchased if it was in a hotel vending machine. Most hotels also have a washer/dryer that guests can use.

I don't think it is a good idea at all...undies are not things people do impulse buying with, like sodas and food items....so unless there is an emergency I doubt anyone would be using these and how likely is that....even once a month is not likely enough. Personally, I would be really uncomfortable buying undies on an airport with 101 strangers around...I agree it will probably be used for jokes.

I think it is a great idea! Accidents happen when you least expect them and you just CAN"T make it to a store. This could be a life saver.

I would rather buy my first box of Depends than buy undies from a vending machine

This is weird! Why can't you just go to a store and buy some if you need them that badly?
    • Brittany Bernett  •  2 months ago
well, if you need them that much, then just buy it. plus, teenage guys will buy them..creepy.
