    User post: Save Your Shoes

Among many other things, this economy has thought us about buying quality over quantity. Buying things that will last past the trends and fads and that will endure triumphantly over the wear-and-tear. This is what French women have always done with their fashion and accessories choices. Their expensive but few yearly purchases are considered investments pieces: the classic designer handbag, the impeccably cut jacket and the shoes. Ah, the shoes…

If you have invested in a new pair of designer shoes, you will want to treat them well so that you have them for years to come. Here are some accessories that can help save your designer heels:

save Your SoleSave Your Sole - Most designer shoes are made with a delicate sole. The recommended practice to keep designer shoes looking as good as when they were first bought is to re-sole them even before they are ever worn. Save Your Sole are soles made specifically for designer shoes to NOT change the structure of the shoes. They are available in a range of colors to match the designer signature soles: red for Louboutin, cream for Gucci, Ferregamo, navy for Alexander McQueen & YSL… Available directly on the Save Your Sole website .

solematesSoleMates High Heeler® a discreet way to protect your heels. The Solemate increases the surface area on the base of the heel and prevent it from sinking in the grass, or the cobblestones and grates. SoleMates attach easily to most stiletto and kitten heels. Great for wedding or any outdoor event where you'll be wearing heels. Keeps heels clean, prevents scuffs and rips and extends the life of your shoes. Read the inventors' story here . Available for about $9.95 a pair through the Solemates website or on Amazon .

heelskinzHeelskinz are sleeves that slip on the heel and back of your shoes to prevent scuffing and tearing of the heel area, as often happens when driving. Keep a pair in the glove box. And should you forget to take them off, they actually add a new style to your pumps. Available in various colors and embellishments for $19.95. Buy directly through the Heelskinz website .

Protect your investment and extend the life of your shoes. This will save money in the long run.

I was in a wedding a couple of years ago where we were all just standing on grass for the ceremony. It had rained the day before, and we had to keep all our weight on our toes to keep our heels from sinking into the ground. The bridesmaid next to me had to keep grabbing my arm when her stilettos sank further in. It was funny, but I think those Solemates could have helped us!

I thought the Solemate High Heeler was atrocious looking when I first saw a picture of it. But my sister graciously bought all of her bridesmaids some for her wedding so we could walk in the grass to take pictures in a park. They were a lifesaver! All of our shoes were totally fine later. And we all had them on in the pictures and you couldn't see them. When we got to the reception, we just took them off. Highly, highly recommended.

I like the idea of those. The Solemates High Heeler is quite noticeable, but if you are going to walk on grass or other "off road" surfaces I'd still use it. It would save your shoes after all.
