User Post: Tips for Fighting Summer Frizz

I don't have the kind of hair that just lays like it is suppose to and looks pretty without much attention, and in the summer my long, brown, slightly wavy in spots hair goes berserk. I struggle with the little, curly wisps that frizz up as soon as I move away from the mirror and this is exasperated by the heat and not being able to fully blow dry my hair. You see I live in a building with no air conditioning so managing my hair in the summer becomes even more complicated.

I know you are probably thinking that I and the many others who have this problem with flyaways and frizzy wisps should just give up during these summer months and settle into looking like a victim of electrocution but there are helpful things you can do to manage this summer hair.

On those sweltering hot days where I can't bare to finsih my blowout I apply a leave in conditioner, like Neutrogena's Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave In Cream with UV Shield. I then twist my hair up securing it with a butterfly clip or into a bun and allow it to dry that way. This not only gives me beautiful waves when I take my hair down it helps to keep it smooth, adds volumne and protects it from the outside elements. You can also add fun clips, decorative combs or even a pretty flower to finish the look.

My second tip for fabulous summer hair is lotion. If you happen to be out and about with no access to hair care products and you need something to calm your out of control hair, I suggest taking a little bit of that lotion you keep in your purse, rub it over your hands and then over your hair. This calms the flyaways and frizz and makes for a smooth effect. Be careful not to use too much otherwise it can make hair look oily.

These two tips help me survive the summer and hopefully they will help you too after all ever girl deserves a frizz free day in the sun.
