Using Toilet Seat Covers as Face Blotting Papers: Genius or Gross?

Remember on Friday when I asked you guys for your tips on dealing with shine? Well, from the number of times it got mentioned, it seems that your number one trick after using blotting papers and powder is soaking up oil with bits of toilet seat covers. This caused a bit of a debate.

Some of you swear by this move (It works! It's so easy! It's free!). Others questioned the sanity behind it (Those are for your butt! They sit in a public restroom all day! There's no way I'm getting that thing close to my face!).

Glowing skin versus oily skin, where do you draw the line?

    What are your feelings here?

Feel free to discuss anything you found that works better in the comments-I find this whole thing fascinating!

If you're not afraid to use the paper towels in restrooms, why would you be afraid to use the seat covers?

I grab one in the beginning of the night, fold it up and slip it in my pocket or purse. Then, when I need to, I rip off what I need and blot away! so much cheaper than buying blotting papers!

i heard about this but never tried it.
HOWEVER, those crappy brown paper towels they have in public restrooms? they work really well too. and i also have VERY oily skin.

I totally love this idea and have used it. If you are freaked out about using the covers because they are stored in the bathroom, then pull out the top cover and use the one behind it. I just wish I could purchase these covers and cut them up for my own use. I bet they would be a lot less expense per use that the little rectangles you can buy at the beauty supply stores.

I love this too! I have very oily skin and I use these and also use paper towels for blotting. I hate the cakey compact feel so I blot first and it gives a more fresh feeling. AND the blotting sheets are too expensive!

That's gross. I mean when you consider the toilet spray that gets collected on that. I don't even sit on those things. I squat over the stupid thing so I don't have to sit on the toilet. Public restrooms disturb me when comes to cleanliness.

Whatever happened to baby wipes or wet ones? I mean at least they have multiple uses for things besides just blotting your face. Like cleaning up after lunch or spills. Dusting off your keyboard. Wiping things off in order to clean in general. They come in antibacterial too. So you can avoid the germs!

They sell those blotter papers at Walgreens you get a ton of them for like a dollar. I use them constantly and they work just as good as the expensive ones I bought from the beauty supply store.

I can't see myself doing this one! I think public restrooms are icky in themselves, no matter how clean they are so I don't see myself using anything in there for my face! I'd rather keep some napkins or wipes in my purse at all times.

PS They sell toilet seat covers in a small travel size (by Charmin). I have bought several packs. You get like 5 folded up and small enough to fit in your purse. Good for your face or a public toilet. And then you know where they've been and what they've been exposed to. Look in the travel-size section at grocery or drug stores.

I used to work for a cosmetic company that sold oil blotters. And now that I think of it, they were the consistency of toilet seat covers, so I imagine this would work great! If you have a phobia of germs, then a. they are everywhere, so get over it, or just forget the suggestion and go on w/ your life. b. grab a liner further in and use a section not exposed to the air. And baby wipes are great for many things, however, they could be irritating to your face and not practical when you are wearing make-up.

This stuff really works. Plus, why should I have to pay around $6 for something that's free.
