    What's your lip balm addiction?

    ...I'm sitting on Poipu Beach watching the surf......I'm sitting on Poipu Beach watching the surf...I used to tease my big brother because he was never without his ChapStick. The moment his lips felt dry, you could spot him applying the lip balm as if he'd been dragging himself across the desert and his lips were scorched.

    I can't say much about it now because I'm fully addicted to lip balm. When I was a teenager, I used lip gloss (still do...but over my lip balm). I loved Kissing Potion by Maybelline and my favorite flavor was Green Apple. Remember how tingly your lips would feel after putting it on? I used to keep a bottle in the glove compartment of my then-boyfriend-now-husband's '66 Mustang. I'd always re-apply it before a kiss. (Sometimes he'd actually apply the gloss to my lips and request a smooch, though he will deny this.)

    I'd moved on to Carmex (too medicine-like) and finally to Aveda Lip Saver, since I spend tons of time outdoors with my kids. But the Aveda lip balm is pricey.

    Now I'm back from a holiday vacation in Kauai, Hawaii, and I've a new lip balm addiction: Kauai Kiss. The smell alone transports me back to the beach, where I'm sitting in the sand watching my boys play in the sun and surfers ride the waves. Sipping a Mai Tai or another fruity concoction.

    But besides putting me under an island spell, it's sweet on the lips because it's made with macadamia nut oil (those of you with nut allergies, stay away), palm and olive oils, beeswax and of course...aloha. (When you're in Kauai, you can visit the shop where the lip balms are made at Island Soap Candle Works in Koloa, which starts another addiction to gorgeous smelling soap and candles.) Plus, it's super cheap at US$3.50 a tin (they are out of tubes in Kauai Kiss), or you can buy a 4-pack of tubes with assorted flavors for US$9.

      I also like Burts Bee's Lip balm... and the Lip Shimmer in nutmeg.

      Whichever lip balm you use, you should always make sure it has an SPF of 15 or higher. Lips are vulnerable, because there are no natural oil glands in the lips. Wear sunscreen EVERY DAY!

      my favorite lip balms , and , lipsticks , so far are bath and body C.O.Bigelow, spearmint, mentha , and the loreal ifallible lipcolor compact ..they are awesome and cheap priced , , try them you'll like them i'm sure of it , especially if you like shiny lips and soft .

      ooooooooooooooooooh i thought the carmex thing was just me. I would find myself digging for it and had to stop. Now I use Burt's Bees. Just got a holiday pack from Wal-mart on clearance too for $5.00 so I am set for a while.

      Oh! I love those too! Hawaiian Sunrise is my favorite.

      On a more serious note...I have had to have lip balm in my pocket for over 40 years now.I mean I have HAD too, I will drive out of my way to get some if I forget to bring it with me.I have always just assumed that lip balm had some addictive chemical in it.

      well that's nice that all of you love your lip balms an chap sticks, yet i cannot wear them. there's a chemicals that they have that numb my lips an well swells them up i have tried many an yet i still cant wear any it sucks!!

      Every single day I use Hostess Twinkies lip balm. I got the first tube as a gag gift one year, and have been hooked ever since. And I don't even like Twinkies!! It's sweet on the lips, and when you kiss someone, you leave them with a sweet taste on their lips...

      I love Softlips vanilla-it has the spf 15 and is slim enough I can carry it in my pocket at work(I work in retail-so hands free is key). Plus I wear Vanilla Fields perfume so it's a complete theme.

      1st it was Carmex then Blistex Medicated (I like the menthol feel) then Aveeno but they stopped carrying it in stores around here and now its Softlips any flavor...I'm truly addicted to this one!!!

      I love Dr. Pepper lipsmackers too! The m&m ones are good too, but I have a hard time from licking my lips when wearing the m&m lipsmackers. Also, AVON makes a good non-flavored one. I think it's called lip dew. Cococare makes a good cocoa butter one that you can find at drugstores.

      The Body Shop's Hi Shine Lip Treatment. Excellent sheer colors, great glossy look, and very lightly scented/flavored with peach. And sooo emollient! Also, any Philosophy lip gloss, though I refrained this year since they were all really sparkly, which is not my thing.

      Anything Smuckers when I was a teenager!

      I find Burt's Bees lip balm to be great! I just stop using Carmex, I was addicted for years and the more I used the worst it got, or at least it appeared that way. My new addiction for now is Bert's Bees lip balm.

      oh yeah, i am definatly addicted to lip balm/lip gloss its been all my life!! as a kid i would litterally eat the lip smakers balms, its always been the watermelon and strawberry ones and now im totally addicted to burts bee's i cant get enough its so bad my boyfriend actually bought me one of those little carry bags with like ten sticks in it.

      I love the Mom Lady's Beauty Booty in Plain Jane. I live in an arctic climate & she makes the product here so she definitely understands the need for moisture! I also like that the ingredients are all 'pronouncable' & not crazy chemicals. There are several flavors & very affordable. A tube is always in my pocket or in close reach.

      I am totally addicted to lip balm!!! I hate that dry feeling that my lips start to get if I go to long without reapplying. I have a huge assortment of different brands and flavors. Whenever I go to the store and see a new one I always get it. The same with gum, whenever there is a new flavor I have to try it. I do miss bubble gum flavored chap stick. I haven't seen it in years.
