Woman Breaks Plastic Surgery World Record to Look Like Barbie

Talk about "plastic" surgery (cue the sitcom laugh track): A 49-year-old British woman (and self-proclaimed "Real Life Barbie") Sarah Burge has broken the world record for cosmetic procedures (she's had more than 100) in an effort to turn herself into a living doll. Her actions trump the previous record-holder, our own stateside "Barbie" Cindy Jackson, who also says her surgery obsession is spurred by her desire to look like the iconic Mattel toy. (FYI Jackson now seems to make a living through sales of her autobiography and microdermabrasion products, among other things) Now, I'm no doctor but…

I would think that this Barbie-copying business could be a sign of body dysmorphic disorder, where your perception of your physical appearance becomes very distorted. Granted, I could be wrong and these surgery fiends--with their good "I wanted to look just like Barbie-and now I do!" line--could just be incredibly PR-savvy. Either way, what really stumps me is why anyone would want to look like a plastic doll at all--she's a toy, people! Why you'd tinker with yourself (and spend more than $800,000 as Burge has) to look more like what is essentially an inanimate object is beyond me. (This kind of behavior makes wrinkle-reduction surgery seem tame in comparison!)

What to see more of Burge's transformation? Click here--but be sure to come back and tell me what you think of her makeover!

What do you think? Can you believe these women are having surgery to look like a doll? Does this story make you sad? Does it make you mad? Do you think Burge really looks like Barbie? Did you want to look like the doll when you were little?

Barbie is a doll. Get over it. If your hot your hot. If your not your not. There is nothing wrong with looking like Barbie. However, comparing a human to a child's toy is a fugly complex.

What has she done do serve mankind? Think of the thousands of hungry people, unsheltered homeless, and disfigured children she could have helped. That is what she could have done with her life and money. Instead she blew it on all this un-needed surgery.

When I was 22, I met the woman who would be my wife. She was pretty to be sure, but so were many others when I was 22. What set her apart was the beauty that shined from within, in all that she would say and do. This inner beauty made her the most beautiful woman I had ever met to that point and she still is to me even after 28yrs of marriage. The outside will change and gravity will win out but nothing can alter the beauty within a virtuous woman. I am blessed indeed.

Wow. Waste of money to look like Barbie. I can see a boob job, a rhinoplasty, a nip or a tuck here and there...but that's a lot of money. I agree, she still looks her age, pert rear and all.

Note that the woman did not have the compulsion to change her body until she was beaten within an inch of her life. This probably irrationally equates with some kind of survival action. It is likely not under her conscious control.

Let's take the focus off her and onto Barbie for a minute. Does she have those retarded leg joints? No. Do kids find her appealing? No. Can she fit in a box? No. Would you buy her from a shop toy shelf? No

You get the point. Imagine Barbie having operations to look like a human, sorry from the bottom of my heart but your too just too small. You belong in the catergory of Plastic Fantasies. U shall stay there too.

She looks hideous! I'd love to see a full body photo of her in the past to atleast feel she wasn't born that incredibly disproportionate.

and also because you dont have the bucks to make yourself look better nor the confidence to make yourself better, you laugh at people like her. of course, life aint only about looks but it plays a big part. Tell me you ll date Hunchback of Notre Dame?

I think it's really dangerous to have such a cavelier attitude about plastic surgery. It's an unecessary risk to your health. Unless you have a deformity or other major issue, maybe it's better to just appreciate what God gave you. And then save the money for your retirement or buy yourself a really nice car....500K would buy you a really nice ride, haha.

I work for a plastic surgeon, and on one hand people should do what they want to make themselves feel better, but I feel within reason. spending that much money (that's one happy surgeon!!) is a little ridiculous! usually a good surgeon would have put the brakes on at some point. and she doesn't look that great, what all did she do? people really do need to love themselves more!

Ya know she spent a lot of money on her looks that was not needed. She still has a way to go before she looks like an actual Barbie however!
