    Would You Try Neon Hair?

Avril Lavigne celebrated the release of her new album, Goodbye Lullaby, last night and rocked some pretty bold pink and green locks. But this neon hair trend isn't just for punk musicians-we've seen it all over the hottest fashion runways. During fall 2011 New York Fashion Week, designer Prabal Gurung's models had streaks of pink layered into their messy waves. And blue hair is no longer reserved for the over-80 lady: At the Fendi show in Milan, bright blue strands were woven into the models' oversized chignons.

So we're dying (pun intended) to know: Are you running out to buy some Manic Panic?

I remember using a product called "hair mascara," which you could use to to temporarily streak your hair with some fun, wild coloring. It washed out as soon as you shampooed it. Something like that I'd do for sure, for fun on the weekend or as part of a Halloween costume or something. But anything more permanent is not really appropriate for most work places unless maybe you're a tatoo artist or something like that.

I always have some sort of color in my hair, currently-violet woven between my top blonde and bottom black. Just enough to turn heads but not over the top. I am a safety professional and proud to say 41 years old and still rockin' the stuff that makes me, me. I am lucky that my job allows me to express myself. To the haters-if you dont like it, dont look.

I dunno. Maybe. I like subtle, classic, elegant styles with a modern edge. If the color was uniquely placed, then that would be interesting, but I don't like it when someone's hairstyle overshadows their entire persona or becomes their persona (i.e. "girl with the blue hair" kind of thing). I like it better when a hairstyle enhances the person somehow--livens up their facial features, brightens their tone a bit, or brings out their personality more.

I used to dye my hair all kinds of wild colors in my teens and twenties. I really miss that now. I had bleached hair and loved to dye it lilac purple the most because it looked silvery, especially when it faded out. My hair is black now.

Wow ladybella04, That's funny. I'm 23. Does that mean you're going to pay my bills? Last time I checked, having a mortgage, husband and children kinda made me a grown up... but I guess I'm wrong, I mean, I'm not even 25!

I used to do all sorts of different colors back in high school and I wish I still could. But working in childcare prevents that from happening. Parents don't care for that stuff.

It's great if you want to look like My Lil Pony or Rainbowbrite.

When I was in high school and middle school, my hair has been every color that would show up against my natural auburn hair without bleaching (fire engine red, dark blue, purple were my most common colors). When I got my first driver's license, I had bleached my hair and put red and blue streaks in for 4th of July (I had just turned 18 then). I'd do it again. :)

Use the clips. Perfectly fine for a bit of weekend fun, comes off to be professional on Monday.

I used to rock neon streaks all the time in high school! My favorite colors were purple and dark fuchsia. I would love to do lavender if the workplace allowed it!

I had electric blue strips on my hair while I was at the office. I just hide it with a strategic hairstyle aka bun while at work. Now that I'm a preacher's wife, I know it would be a talk of the town if not at least the congregation so sorry.

Fine if you're under 25, work in a creative field or you're a rockstar who can wear whatever you want. Not so cute on grown ups with bills to pay.

In the photos it doesn't really look very neon. It looks kind of old and faded. Unhealthy.
I'd probably try some hot pink clipon strands for a fun night out.

No, I did that when I was in my early 20's, now I enjoy being taken seriously instead of frivolous, fun and wild. But don't tell anyone, I still have a few bright clip in locks ;)

I have the same problem with my job lol before I started working here I wore my hair a bright pink or a fire engine red color

A few years ago I did electric blue strands. Except the bleach is a killer on hair. Now I just go for clip on strands.
My hairstylist always has the hottest colors on her hair. It looks great on her.
Also my observation is that color is a factor depending on the job, so I couldn't get away with it, even if I wanted to.
