New Year's Eve Dresses Under $70

No ensemble cast of A-list, bad-acting celebrities can convince us otherwise: New Year's Eve is the most overrated holiday of the year. Cover charges and drink prices are as inflated as your hopes for a glamorous night that culminates in a magical kiss and a blossoming love affair, just in time for "New Year, New You 2012." It almost never works out that way, but that doesn't stop us from making plans and shelling out the dough. If you're as optimistically delusional as we are, or simply would rather party than stay at home with Chinese food and watch ancient Dick Clark on TV, you need a dress-perferably one that's so sparkly and fabulous, it acts as a magnet. Here are some of our favorite ensembles, most of which are probably much less expensive than the price of your party ticket.

ASOS Midi Dress with Cross Back Strap

    Asos
The body-hugging silhouette and daring back is oh-so "Holly Golightly", while the midi-skirt makes a potential walk-of-shame less shameful, should the midnight kiss turn into more. The best part? Throw on a blazer, tights, and heels, and you could even rock this number at work. ($40.38, ASOS)

    Foil Velvet Flippy Tunic

    TopShop
Shimmer away in this gold tunic-perfect with tights or without. ($42.99, TopShop)

    Sequined Scallop Dress
    Forever21
Sparkly, sassy, and fun … just like you. ($29.80, Forever 21)

    Lace Body-Con Dress

    asos
If this doesn't scream bombshell, I'm not sure what does. Between the vibrant color, the lace, and the open back, you're guaranteed to stand out. ($60.46, ASOS)
