Does anyone really believe we need a national holiday to celebrate greasy foods? Who requires a celebratory reminder or a foodie holiday to create an enhanced craving for cheeseburgers, French fries and other junk food?

OK, so today is the day. Go hog wild, if you must. National Greasy Food Day practically presents us with a gustatory challenge or a license to indulge.Sure, tomorrow we may wear the resulting poundage on our thighs, backsides or mid-sections. But who's counting today? (OK, we are.)

What's your favorite greasy food of all?

Do you pick barbecued ribs, fried chicken, hot dogs, nachos, pizza, tacos or another fabulously fatty food to satisfy your desire? Are you hooked on julienne fries, steak fries, waffle fries, tater tots or another sort of spud altogether?

Would you rather pick up a paper-packed order of greasy food at a take-out joint, dine-in at a favorite restaurant or prepare it yourself at home?

Sometimes, despite my occasional desire to indulge in these nutritionist-forbidden foods, I have to wonder if it might be simpler just to pack the greasy consumption pounds on various parts of my physique, rather than actually eating the stuff. I know where it goes. Don't we all?

Personally, I think I'm gonna pass.

Oh, wait! I have to drive right by my favorite fast food spot on the way home from the gym today. How about just a small burger with cheese? C'mon. It's National Greasy Food Day, and I don't want to be called a party pooper. To quote actor/comedian Jim Carrey in "The Mask," I find myself hollering, "Somebody stop me!"

Do you want fries with that?
