Perfect Day for Popcorn ... on Orville Redenbacher's birthday
Who doesn't love a big bin of fluffy popcorn?
July 16 th is the perfect day for popcorn. After all, it's Orville Redenbacher's birthday. The premium popcorn-maker, known for his thick glasses and jaunty bow tie, was born on this date in 1907 in Brazil, Indiana.
Orville Redenbacher would turn 104 today, if he were still living. The popcorn mogul passed away on September 19, 1995, apparently drowning after succumbing to a heart attack in the whirlpool inside his California condominium.
In honor of this a-maize-ing popcorn legend, July 16 th is a great occasion for a corny old movie night.
Pop up some corn today for a summer picnic or movie outing!
