An average of 15 percent of all brides-to-be opt for a June wedding, meaning that plenty of bridesmaids are getting ready to throw bridal showers. The problem? The food, favors and gifts can easily run into the hundreds of dollars, making it cost-prohibitive to spend tons of cash on games and activities during the actual shower.
Luckily, all is not lost: There are tons of bridal shower games that are both fun and free - and appropriate for all ages (no pin-the-penis on a naked dude here!) Need ideas? We have more than a few to get your bridal shower going.
How Well Do You Know the Bride?
This game is all about the bride's favorite subject: herself! To play, compile a list of 10 questions about the bride - the more challenging, the better (think questions like 'Where did Susy study abroad?') During the shower, pass out paper and pen to each guest. The person who answers the most questions correctly wins a small gift, like a candle or a picture frame. You can even opt for a free prize, like a free dance with the groom at the wedding.
Bridal Shower Bingo
This game pretty much works like a traditional bingo game, but instead of numbers you make a board with the words of things commonly found at weddings, like dress, flowers, presents, gifts, etc. The actual game board can be created on a piece of paper or on a computer. The first person to call "bingo" during the game wins a prize.
What's in Your Purse?
Create a list of 20 or so items commonly found in a woman's purse. Assign a point value to each - the weirder the item, the more points it earns. For example, a coin purse earns one point, but an emery board earns three points (or whatever you decide.) During the game, ask guests to tally up their points and the person with the highest gets a prize.
Who Am I?
For this game, write down the names of famous women (celebrities, fictional literary characters, etc.) on large pieces of paper. Tape a different name to each shower guest's back so she can't see it. Guests then take turns describing the famous woman until the correct name is guessed - and, as always, the first person to name their character gets a prize. The best part? This game can be played throughout the bridal shower until every name is guessed correctly.
