I've been to so many baby showers for new moms. I've also been to a couple's shower. However, typically the gift giving centers on the baby and the mom. While new moms certainly deserve to be pampered, new dads should also be recognized. Father's Day is the perfect time to let those "rookie" dads know that they are valued. Here are five great Father's Day gifts for the new dad.
Back Pack Diaper Bag
I know my husband wasn't too keen on carrying the pink diaper bag we had for our first child. Personally, I didn't like it much either. A back pack diaper bag allows a father to carry all of the baby essentials in an organized but "manly" manner. It also is easier to carry when you are chasing down a toddler.
Diaper Changing Kit
Diaper changing can be a messy activity. Make sure dads are prepared with a kit. Diapers, a changing pad and wipes are essential. For an element of humor, add goggles, gloves and air freshener.
Baby Carrier
I don't know what we would do without our baby carrier. Carriers are a great way to keep your hands free and give your arms a break. In addition, I have found that babies like being close to a beating heart and a warm body.
Jogging Stroller
These days, dads are much more involved with the kids. I see so many dads walking and jogging with their babies. A jogging stroller is a must for anyone who likes to get some exercise or just get out of the house.
Movie Subscription Service
When we had our first child, it was nice to be able to feed our child and watch some T.V. There will be times when a newborn will just fall asleep in your arms. It can get boring just sitting there. In addition, movies are a nice way for parents to have an informal date night when the baby is young.
Happy Father's Day!
