Take a Sneak Peek Inside Tommy Hilfiger's Apartment

Tommy and Dee Hilfiger show off their flair for fashion and decor in their new apartment at the Plaza in New York.

Perhaps it's only fitting that the Hilfigers' new home is perched on one of the highest floors of one of New York's most iconic landmarks, the Plaza Hotel.

"We tried to incorporate as much of the history of the building as we could," says Tommy Hilfiger's wife Dee of the luxurious two-floor condo they bought in 2008 and the hotel's roster of storied guests. "From Marilyn Monroe to the Beatles to Jackie O., it makes you think, if these walls could talk," she muses about the hotel and residence at the corner of Central Park South and Fifth Avenue.

Playing to his forte of re-creating the past, Tommy elaborates on his apartment's decor: "We had a vision to create an old-world atmosphere complementing the old-world Plaza." And they did just that, with a wink, of course

Following a gut renovation, the grandiose, European-influenced apartment has a cozy feel. "We have bought almost all of the furniture together," says Dee. "We like to go shopping on the weekends. It's been a real collaboration."

Littered with megawatt pieces like the noir Maison Jansen dining-room table, the antique lacquered desk in the living room, and the crystal sailing-ship chandelier in the baby's room, the grand interior surprisingly does have a welcoming feel.

Andy Warhol's portraits of Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor hold court in the living room, while a jovial Mickey Mouse hangs in the guest bedroom and Marilyn Monroe graces the second-floor hallway. They have more than 20 pieces of his work in total, as well as a Jean-Michel Basquiat in the entry. But Tommy isn't done yet. Fittingly, he has had his eye on a Jasper Johns American-flag painting.

Anyone know where to find the artwork of the soldier's portrait in that shield-shaped frame in the kid's room? It's adorable!

I love how he added his own personality and style to his home... with his "Signature Stripes". Very cozy and luxe!

I didn't know Tommy Hilfiger made such comments about minorities, I'm never buying from that racist pig again.

How is this for excess???? Could they send money for the benefit of the oil spill clean up. That would really benefit a whole generation and more to come. How self-indulgent!!!!.

Sorry, but I see their place as cold, sterile & stuffy looking. How could you ever "kick off your
shoes" in that? It's the evil twin to a a trailer trash home where everything is disgusting. "Trailer trash" (so to speak, not meaning anyone living in a trailer, it could be a block home or whatever) is filthy to the point you're terrified to walk in the door (much less use the bathroom) because it's so dirty. These folks have such a sterile, generic, lacking in any & all personality place that you'd feel scared to touch anything as if you were in a museum or something. So it's the same, afraid to touch anything..If it makes them happy, then great. I've had the misfortune to live like that & I walked away for a more casual home where I don't have to be afraid to touch anything. Only other people should fear touching my stuff! lol! They look like a nice family assuming the pictures are real, I hope they truly are happy & blessed! I hope they will always be happy in the place they have chosen as home, but this is certainly not news worthy. But I guess it is kind of a 'fun" article.

Are you kidding me! I am not surprised. Ugly clothes and really ugly house. Man, this guy is such a peasant and has such bad taste, he should have hired an interior decorator. Seriously.

Why is it that Yahoo INSISTS on posting articles about the rich? Like 26 million other American's, I was laid off for a year and a half. I was fortunate to get my job back, I still lost my savings, 401k and even now struggle to keep my house on 25% less salary. Yahoo, we don't care what the rich have. We don't care what city boasts the most expensive homes, or mansions, with 15 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms or who owns them! STOP IT ALREADY! The banks and Wall Street ruined the American economy and it will take decades for it to recover. People like me lost their 401k's and college savings. Their kids will be hard pressed to afford college, at the obscene tuition and fees the colleges are charging, not to mention their ridiculous requirements for a degree. Yahoo.....you are living in a glass bubble. It's time to face reality!

Here is a plan to deal with the rich......Let's make them even richer.....yes that right richer ,then they will have to pay even MORE taxes ! ha ha ha...even though they pay almost all of them now.........ya that will fixem.......they might even invest some of those riches and create jobs and boost growth in the economy.......hey wait ....isn't that redistribution of wealth ? How many jobs have you created today?

Having a lot of money apparently doesn't guarantee any sort of good taste. It's not a surprise, either. Tommy's clothing hasn't been relevant for a LONG time.

This is what you get when you can sell cotton t-shirts with your name on them for $100. A life of luxery!

I wouldn't be caught dead wearing any of his fashion garbage and the decor in his home is downright tacky and uncreative like his clothes. But that's just my opinion, putting that aside,I don't see what the big deal is. I admire a surgeon, a doctor, a paramedic or even a social worker who are out there everyday actually doing something useful and positive for humanity. Hollywood? Fashion Industry? Paris Hilton? Lindsey Lohan - or however you spell her name - ? Do you think they care about you, me or anyone else? I've cattered to quite a few of these "Stars" and athletes and they are the type who are condescending to the waiters and believe that they shouldn't have to pay the bill or tip the servers!!! Is offensive to even call them "artists", is disrespectful to the real artists out there who can paint, make sculptures or actually play an instrument. I don't have a problem with recognizing and paying for talent. But 90% of Hollywood has no talent. Only dumbed down, trivial, overplayed cliches for the masses who are easily amused. Hollywood is tired - ex.Mel Gibson -, completely out of tune with reality, overpaid and overrated. There are more important issues around this planet that needs addressing. Whose marbles is one of the Kardashians polishing is NOT one of them.

i agree with scrooge.....they should hired a professional decorator.

It's kind of hard to get excited about his wealth when the article is place next to one about the once-prosperous middle class disappearing.
    • Pam  •  1 year 10 months ago
I would rather see an article about money or time Hilfiger donated to human causes than see all of the pretentious,over-priced,over-stated and totally unneccessary "things" he bought to impress his peers.I also have the same opinion about all the "stars" who spend millions on possessions to impress others, they should match the total of the price tags of their furnishings, cars and clothes and donate to worthy causes.
