    12 Celebrity Body Secrets

At last! Trainers behind beautiful-bodied Halle, Heidi, and Jennifers A. and L. reveal how their clients got their shapes and how you can, too.

    FAB FIGURE: Jennifer Aniston
    CELEB TRAINER: Kathy Kaehler
    SMART TIPS:

    1. Eat! One big mistake women make is severely cutting calories, which slows your metabolism and makes you feel deprived. The result? You binge and gain weight.

    2. But, eat slowly. After each bite, put down your fork and count to 10. This allows your brain to tell your stomach, "Enough."

    3. MUST-DO MOVE: Card shuffle

    TARGETS: Inner and outer thighs

HOW TO DO IT: Place 10 playing cards on the floor. Now squat, pick up one card, and shuffle four paces to the right. Squat; put the card down. Shuffle back to the pile, pick another card, and repeat until all 10 cards have been moved to the right.

Gregg DeGuire/WireGregg DeGuire/WireFAB FIGURE: Halle Berry
    CELEB TRAINER: Harley Pasternak
    SMART TIPS:

    4. Uphill walking is the best cardio exercise. (Do it outside or on a treadmill's highest incline.) It's easy on your knees while tightening your butt, thighs, and lower legs.

    5. Dumbbells are better for muscle toning than weight machines, because they require no adjusting, they allow the body to move naturally, and they can be used for dozens of different exercises (while machines have a limited repertoire).

    6. MUST-DO MOVE: Upper-body twist

    TARGETS: Obliques (sides of stomach)

HOW TO DO IT: Sit on a mat or rug with your knees bent and your feet flexed. Lean back slightly (at a 45-degree angle). Now reach across your body with your right hand, as though you're grabbing something on your left, then reach to the right with your left hand. Do 10 reps (five on each side), rest for 30 seconds, then do two more sets.

Chris Weeks/WireChris Weeks/WireFAB FIGURE: Heidi Klum
    CELEB TRAINER: David Kirsch
    SMART TIPS:

    7. Stick your butt out on the elliptical machine. This shifts the focus to your butt, hamstrings, outer thighs, and quadriceps. (If you stand up too straight--a common mistake--you work only your quads.)

    8. When you're doing any kind of athletic movement--jumping, lunging, lifting weights--never lock your elbows or knees. Keep them slightly "soft" (but not floppy) to prevent joint injury.

    9.MUST-DO MOVE: Platypus walk

    TARGETS: Butt

HOW TO DO IT: Firmly grasp a seven- to 10-pound medicine ball--or a dumbbell that weighs between four and 10 pounds--overhead with both hands (keeping arms straight). Squat as low as you can go, toes pointing out. Remaining in the squat, walk slowly forward for eight steps, then slowly backward for another eight. Repeat the sequence.

    Jennifer Lopez
    CELEB TRAINER: Gunnar Peterson
    SMART TIPS:

    10. Quit quick-stepping on the stairclimber! This works fewer muscles and burns fewer calories than long, deep steps.

    11. Sit still for no more than three minutes between weight-lifting sets. Waiting longer allows your muscles to cool down, weakening the benefits of the exercise.

    12. MUST-DO MOVE: Tricep extension

TARGETS: The backs of the arms

HOW TO DO IT: Hold one end of a five-to-eight-pound dumbbell in both hands above your head. Slowly lower the weight behind your head so elbows point to the ceiling, then lift. Aim for three sets of eight.

What if I don't want to look like Halle Berry or J-lo. I want to look like me. I would love to see an article about being happy with yourself. And, fyi, men should want to look good too. I think all men should look like Adam Rodriguez. Where is his personal trainer?

why is it halley berry and other zebra's like her who have one parent white and one parent black always consider themselves to be black?? they are neither they are zebra's half n half an not a true white nor black person, so these morons should stop calling themselves black, just like tiger woods isn't black he is zebra and like obama is zebra all half an half so why non say they are white since they have one of each color parent in them.... stupid and tired of it....

I am so sick of people making their comments that celebrities are fit because they have a personal trainer, they have a cook, they make a lot money, bla bla bla. People will come up with any excuse they can not to exercise and live a healthy life. Since when is now a requirement to have a personal trainer and be rich to be fit? Back in the 60s and 70s, most people were not overweight or obese. Do you think they all had a personal trainer? No, they just didn't eat a bunch of crappy food and do nothing.
All you have to do is work out 20-30 minutes a day, 4 days a week and try to eat mostly healthy! People have time to watch 3 hours of TV a day but not enough time to take care of their bodies by exercising for half an hour and eating nutritious food. You guys just keep ignorantly thinking of excuses and I will be fit and healthy, because I choose to, even though I don't make very much money, I don't have a personal trainer or a cook, or any of those other excuses you guys come up with.

Love50, what do you mean "we" are not going to look like them? Do you personally know every person in the US who isn't a celebrity? There are plenty of people out there that look like celebrities. This country is just so full of ignorant overweight people that they perpetuate the myth that only celebrities can be fit or thin.
    • Blue  •  1 year 3 months ago
As if this is some big newsworthy discovery. Oh my God, work out your abdominal muscles and you will have a flat toned midsection! Eat healthy and exercise and you will have a toned fit body! I'm so glad they let us in on this "Oscar" secret!

And no, you don't have to "spend $30,000 a year on a personal trainer" to get fit. Anyone who thinks that is a moron and is just coming up with excuses to not lose weight. There are millions of people that keep themselves healthy and fit and don't even go to the gym.

These people make millions of dollars while average Americans can't find a job and are losing their homes in record numbers, and now we have to sit through them giving each other awards!? Amazing. I'm guessing without the awards, their lives are pretty nice as is. Why do we continue to worship these idiots!?

Its all in there Gene's too. Plus Hollywood requires Actress to be skinny, if not they will not get much work. And they can afford the top trainers. Many get surgery too, facial, or body.
And pictures of them are always airbrushed.
And No matter what anyone does, WE are not going to look like them.
WE are all different. Built, looks, weight. And WE need to accept our selves the way we are. God is NOT going to let us look like them.

Umm...All of these exercise tips I do in jazzercise (minus the playing cards). If you're looking to lose weight and tone up, look up a jazzercise class online. I mean it! I weigh roughly 140 lbs...I started jazzercise two summers ago and (while I haven't exactly lost any "weight") I have lost tons of flab and have toned all my problem muscles (legs, inner and outer thighs, belly, the backs of my arms, and even my neck looks thinner). I have never been so happy with my figure before; my arms and back are strong! Seriously, I'm not trying to get you to spend money or anything, but I really love going to class...I HATE sweating, but I love jazzercise! If you want a change in your life, check it out, seriously...I don't regret it at all and it costs me $32 a month. My class is offered five times a week, 1 hour a day, so it's not excessive or anything. Try it. :) Seriously :) :) I still eat pizza and chips and all that stuff; you just have to ration it. Like, 2-3 pieces of pizza TOPS. One glass of soda to wash it down (lately I've been doing milk). A salad to go with it. Just eat in moderation, and CUT SNACKING in between meals!!! Unless it's a healthy snack like carrots or celery, or something...both of which I hate, but whatever. :)

Have you noticed that all of the recent movies have only white people in them. Then they play black or Latin music in their advertisements as if other races will be intrigued to watch the movie because of the music. I would care about the Oscars but I don't like watching shows with only white people in them I see enough of them in my house, on my job and on TV everyday. Please give me a little variety, P l e a s e.
