2 Killer Moves for a Flat Tummy

A toned stomach is like an amazing Chanel bag. It looks good, feels great and takes a ton of work to get it. Some of us were born with it, and some of us spend our whole lives vying for it. Plus, it's sexy.

We can't give you tips on buying a Chanel bag (other than save, save save!) but we can tell you the killer moves to get your stomach into shape. Just keep in mind that these exercises alone won't do it. Click here for fat-burning cardio ideas and metabolism-boosters.

"A toned core will help your body age well in the decades to come, so it's crucial to build a strong one early on," says Valerie Orsoni, founder of LeBootCamp.com. "Also," adds Geralyn Coopersmith, senior national manager at Equinox Fitness Training Institute, "developing a fit core early in life sets you up for amazing posture and a pain-free lower back." Killer Move: The Plank

Goal: To condition your entire core
    Frequency: Four times a week
    Directions:
    - Get into a push-up position with your forearms on the floor.
    - Lift your legs and torso up off the ground so that only your toes and the flats of your forearms remain on the floor.
    - Keeping your back neutral and your belly button pulled in, hold this position for 20-60 seconds.
    - Repeat for 3-5 sets.

    Killer Move: Butterfly Abs
Goal: To work your deep abs while getting a flat, sexy stomach
    Frequency: Four times a week
    Directions:
    - Sit comfortably on a gym mat or carpet with your legs crossed. Using your arms to support you, slowly lie back until your body is flat, keeping your legs crossed.
    - Place your hands under the nape of your neck for support. Inhale through your nose, and raise your chest a few inches off the floor while exhaling through your mouth. Your chest should be moving up toward the ceiling, not bending forward to your knees. This should be a smooth, controlled motion.
    - Repeat 25 times, and as you progress, move up to 50 times.
    - Tip: Do not push your head with your hands as this puts you at risk of injuring your neck. The purpose of your hands is to keep your head in alignment with your back and shoulders. You don't want to curve your back.

***STOP THINKING THAT GETTING YOUR IDEAL BODY IS IMPOSSIBLE*** Hiya! I was reading past comments on women saying they wish they could have their "ideal" body, what ever that may be from person to person. YOU CAN, subconsciously by saying "Ill never be a size 6" "Im never going to get healthy" You are ALREADY setting up yourself for failure. YOU HAVE to break the "negative" barrier that is literally keeping your goals in shackles.

My highest weight was 247lbs!!!! AND I AM ONLY 5'0" which makes it sooooo much worse. I was a big girl.....needless to say. I didn't get inspired by Biggest Loser, or watching celebrities starve themselves. I changed my negative perception that not only did I have on myself, but how I looked at getting healthy and making changes. I HATED IT AT FIRST..At the beginning it looked like MORE WORK on top of being a new mom, wife, working full time on midnights for a police department,

I thought I was too busy and that it was impossible. That's when I realized it was a major problem so out of the blue I started giving myself compliments in the mirror....SERIOUSLY I DID THIS.at first every time I passed a mirror, I would be like "grrr...I look nice" or something similar. My goal was to FEEL sexy and classy...very Victoria Secret like. I started dressing more business sexy casual, wearing heels...etc.. making small steps towards the lifestyle I was always dreaming of!! I didnt want to be a damn model...IM 5'0 .. simple fact..im itty bitty.. but I loved that IMAGE! Without realizing it I was happy almost every single day, and I started LOSING WEIGHT. I stopped stressing myself out and started enjoying life..knowing I was making progress everyday towards my goal..getting closer and closer..

I did change over to a "healthier" lifestyle but not changing everything I ate (that will just put your body into an addition shock, and youll end up eating more) but I changed HOW MUCH I WAS EATING. I would order the double cheeseburger (no fries) and only eat half of the sandwich. Feeling satisfied physically and mentally (this trick is awesome because you are eating a whole burger patty but half the bun...therefore more protein less carbs!!!!) . Cool huh?

SECONDLY...I would not destroy my self esteem trying to rush into a gym. I did normal, every day tasks ..... working at a desk job and cleaning my house..playing with my daughter. To this day I still do not have a membership at a gym..(I use the extra money taking my family to the zoo...which is....(tada)... NOTHING BUT PACE WALKING and seeing awesome animals...I didn't realize I was working out because I was too busy seeing that "whoa!" look on my daughters face seeing a monkey for the first time. Before I knew it....year and a half later....I WAS A SIZE 4 123LBS!! And I celebrated the progress I would see ... not read on a scale. I have a picture of me at a 156lbs and I look like im a size 6....scales can be deceiving, and try to roadblock your progress. Use your eyes...its what you see that counts.

I can show before and after pictures. I have been big all my life...so this wasnt just baby weight. Remember that It took time getting on, it'll take a little time getting it off...just know that IT WILL HAPPEN. I didn't have a perfect body EVEN AT A SIZE 4. My thighs still jiggled and I had a little baby gut..... I still had my little flaws here and there , but for the first time I DIDNT CARE. I loved me.... looking back and seeing where I was to where I am today, I will never feel less than proud. Positive thinking will bring positive people and things into your life....maybe not 100% of the time, but most of the time....it definitely will. PLEASE KNOW THAT BEING SKINNY DOESN'T MAKE YOU HAPPY...ENJOYING YOUR LIFE no matter the size....will Bye

I am a physician with extensive experience with patients who have lower back problems. Promising people that they will have a "pain-free lower back" if they do these exercises is not just deceptive--it's irresponsible and potentially very dangerous. No amount of physical therapy / exercise can eliminate the pain from certain abnormalities in the bones or disks, and in some cases, the exercises could cause irreversible damage and excruciating pain.

If you really want to have a better figure, just swim (2 mph) or walk (4 mph) for an hour a day.

This is only about 2% of the total work you will have to do to get in shape. You must eat right, get enough sleep, do cardio and weight training to truly see results. There are no simple and quick miracle moves to get in great shape.

Planks are a good ab workout, but in order to have a strong core a person would have to work harder than 2-3 mins a day.

How can one get a flat tummy without loosing ones weight because am already slim and would not want to shade any weight but would like to have a tummy that much flat than it is now
    • PoodlesKnow  •  2 years 0 months ago
Best advice..stay away from pizza and pasta. Unless you dig ditches for a living (by hand) you have no business going anywhere near that stuff.
