If I am craving something rich and creamy like a milkshake, I often have a smoothie instead. To give fruit smoothies a more creamy consistency, add protein powder, yogurt, or soy milk. Or go all out and make my chocolate strawberry banana smoothie instead.
Another quick way to satisfy an ice cream craving is with a big glass of lowfat chocolate milk, which also makes a great post-workout snack.
When I get a craving it's hard to curb, and over the years I've learned that if I constantly reject my cravings I feel cheated. So instead of depriving myself or always giving into a decadent dessert, I've found healthy substitutions. Whenever my sweet tooth kicks in I reach for one of these go-to snacks.
