By Camille Noe Pagan, Glamour magazine

Anyone who's ever walked away from the table only to be starving moments later (Chinese food, we're looking at you) knows that certain edibles can leave you more famished than you were before you ate 'em. If you want to stay satisfied longer-a key to weight control-remember this magic trio: protein, healthy fats and fiber. Here, nutritionists' favorite healthy filler-uppers.

Not a bad article. Only one negative comment regarding yogurt - enough of the low fat baloney. If you must eat yogurt you must eat full fat. The fat has a satiety factor PLUS the fat is where all the minerls are, except for the calcium. The main reason we eat is for good protein, good fats and MINERALS. Also, I suggest that oatmeal is not such a great food - it is mostly carbs. However, Oat Bran, especially when combined with wheat bran, contains more of the oils and fiber that help keep out appetites at bay.

Everyone says to eat apples to keep full, however after I eat apples my hunger kicks into high gear and I then want to raid the fridge. Plus I honestly believe that the reason people are becoming so obese is due to some kind of additives that are put in our food, and not necessarily how much we eat. While McDonald's bingers are not in this group, I see a lot of people who eat moderate portions and do not consume junk food whose weight is out of control. It is also odd how the number of hypothyroid patients have skyrocketed even though the U.S. has additives to eliminate the nutritional deficiencies that cause this disorder. I think until we quit manufacturing and genetically altering the food we eat, this epidemic is only going to get worse.

It is simple, learn to do math! Each gram of protien or carbs contains 4 calories. That is 41 grams of carbs, all from sugar, so 164 calories are from sugar and carbs, and the can lies because the law allows them to lie and round down!!!

If you choose to dirnk a soda such as Pepsi,, that is equivielnt to the carbs in 2 servings of stuffing.

Each gram of fat has 9 calories...You can eat that fat, or trim it.

It is YOUR choice,,,Don't blame others for your bad choices

I hate to rain on your "I'm so smart" parade, but I eat all of the "I'm full" foods and little of the "I'm still hungry" foods...and I'm still hungry a lot of time and I have a very difficult time controlling my weight.

Pears have more fiber and nutrition than apples.

Many of these foods are high in calories such as nuts and take many to make you feel full. Apples do nothing for me. List is not practical. Most people dieting or needing to diet are hungry and need to have enough of whatever food they are eating to fill them up. Salad with fat free dressing is good. Low calorie soups help but the taste is not so great. Diet bread can help (45 calorie) make you feel full. No fat sour cream and dip mix is good with veggie chips - great snack and very low in calories. Read the labels. You would probably be surprised at some of the foods that are listed as low fat or diet. Many calories. Kashi cereal mixed with low calorie plain puffed wheat and skin milk are a good filler and good for you. Popcorn (97% fat free) is a great filler. You can eat a lot for very few calories. Weight Watchers is the know all answer to dieting. All diets that work are a version of Weight Watchers. I have been a Weight Watcher for over 35 years and still weigh in every month to help me stay within my designated weight. Try it.

So, everything we've been told by "science" for years and years (low fat, low calorie) has been wrong. Hmmmm.

Old info: eggs are bad! New info: Eggs are great!
Old info: Nuts are full of fat - bad! New info: Nuts are good - full of good fat!

We've been lied to for years. The folks who told us that Dr. Atkins was a kook now have "egg" on their faces!

Excellent article. also good is : Use the blender and blend carrots celery apples and beets in a blender, Put in Blueberries or Acibery juice for a good taste and more nutritional octane. Also a good book to get thin with is " Forever Thin" by Issac Rubin Asa Pearson

With so many foods in the world, you had to write about the most over-written ones. Shoddy work, and written by a pagan, no less. I can't believe you get paid to write these shoddy pieces.

Where did you find a 70 calorie bagel?? Most bagels that I have seen in stores run between 250 and 350 calories.

Edvard had too much to Munch...
      so he got Degas.
      Then, he had to Picasso.

Any food will keep you full that has the word "green" in it. Like green bacon, green salami, green gravy over biscuits. Cannibals were able to maintain their six-pak abs because they dined exclusively on green people.
