Guess what natural, (cheap!) whole food packs more energy than a granola or energy bar?
Did you hear it from the grapevine? (Sorry, couldn't resist!) Raisins, say researchers, may give you more energy for a hard workout than a sports bar. University of California-Davis researchers found that raisins provided effective and inexpensive energy for athletes working for long intervals.

Raisins provide fiber and micronutrients like potassium and iron, and they also don't have any added sugar, artificial flavor or colors. And, according to the USDA, raisins are the cheapest dried fruit--so easy on your grocery bill!
Love this, as one of my favorite pre-workout snacks is almonds and raisins.
