Phoenix continues to grow, vist one area today go back 3 to 4 weeks
and it has buildings coming out of the ground! I was born/raised in small
North West town in Louisiana, less than 5,000 people so we knew everyone,
doors were never locked, people spoke to you so that is a LIFE THAT i USE
TO HAVE and wish it was such today! Those were the good ole days!!!!!

Washington DC is a city full of young people moving into expensive gentrified housing. Where are they getting the money? It is full of watering holes. They drink A LOT in this city. There is though a vibe of excitement and optimism- regardless of whatever is taking place in the rest of the nation.

Wait, is this the top 10 "healthiest" cities, or top 10 "youngest" cities...?
      • AssBall 3 months ago
Yeah I didn't really understand that either. Stupid headline.

You apparently didn't read or can't comprehend the text.
      • Jason 3 months ago
It was "Youngest" in parenthesis. So it was to imply they feel or present as youthful, but not necessarily youngest in regards to age.

Living in Central Valley, just East from SF, San Jose, etc...our valley receives and holds all the pollution that the coastal breezes/winds send our way, plus the bay area transplants to our area, ugh, we lose the years of health that SF and Co. gain...time to move?
      • Gladys Kravitz 3 months ago
The whole Central Valley is gross. I had friends that moved to both Turlock and Modesto, from San Francisco. After a couple of years one moved back to SF and the other moved to Denver. Nobody comes to visit you if you move out there. It's boring and It's so HOT in the summer. They put on a lot of weight out there because there is nothing to do and it's too hot to got out and jog. You are right about the air quality. The air is not suppose to be brown when you look towards the horizon. The only good thing was the abundance of great/cheap mexican food. Then there is that horrible persistant fog on the winter. It can be really gloomy there.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to the Sierras just east of the Central Valley and I've got to drive into the San Joaquin Valley from time to time for business. I always tell people that the San Francisco Bay Area is heaven on earth while the Central Valley's hell. It's like there's two California's!! You've got the smog, fog, heat and even the water there is the worst in the nation!!

im from california so i guess im partial, but ive been all over the country. i really love chicago, i think its a beautiful city, austin is nice, but i dont like the texas heat too much. i didnt spend too much time in denver when i was there but it seems like a really great city too. hands down though, the san francisco bay area is the greatest place in the country to live. there are a lot of haters that watch too much fox news and rush limbaugh who have made SF and the rest of CA to be some villanous communist threat to america, but there isnt any place in the country where people from all over the world come together and are able to share their cultures the way it is in CA. i think most of the people who hate on SF and the rest of CA havent ever been here, or are just jealous. the people are laid back and nice as hell out here not to mention the great weather, great scenery, beautiful women, and you are only a few hour drive from any type of environment you want, mountains, desert, lakes, beaches, oceans, snow, heat, rain, whatever you like. we do tons of camping, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and snowboarding during the days and we party it up in the city like no other at night. you will never run out of things to do in SF. you will never find a happier population of people living in one area, its awesome. some of the worst cities in terms of happiness that ive visited are houston and a few other texas cities. southern hospitality doesnt really seem to exist out there, every guy thinks theyre john wayne, or some type of tough guy, and you can cut the racism with a knife out there. savanah GA and atlanta are much better southern cities. although albuquerue sucks as a city, the people there seem to live a pretty simple life and are really #$%$ pleasant and welcoming, but if you really want to experience life the way it was meant to be livd to its fullest, you have to come to SF.

There is a lot of city stuff to do in SF, but it is tight in the city! I lived near Geary St & Van Ness and got tired of garbage trucks at 4 am! There's not that much greenery in SF unless you go to certain parks. But there is a lot of concrete. All the other stuff you mentioned is outside of SF. Keep the comments to SF only, and you might change your mind, unless you absolutely love being in the city all the time.

Denver/Boulder it's that 420 day party that lasts all year. But the munchies are healthy and the sunshine blue skies - even in winter along with a general well being that will get us everytime. :)

has some of the most sunlight in the world!

I think Texas has Colorado beat in Dro-ski and sunshine.
Its the middle of winter here and its 80 degrees out and as sunny as it gets.

Most of the people who live in Austin, don't know that it is the Capital of Texas.

nope, don't believe it. How did LA make the top ten?

Angelenos are angry because of the traffic. I'm an easy-going person until I get behind the wheel of a car with millions of idiots on the road and all the anger spews forth. I suspect many Angelenos or Southern Californians are this way.

Being very familiar with the prevailing lifestyle in most of those cities (except for Minn-St. Paul and Raleigh-Durham), I am not surprised they're on this list. I am, however, really surprised that Portland, Oregon didn't make the top ten.

Florida sucks. The worst weather on earth. If you like flying bugs, cockroaches, snakes, alligators, hurricanes and humidity and heat so thick its like living in a steam bath -- and old people with leathery skin---Florida is prefect for you.

Moved to San Francisco from Las Vegas. There is fog, but definitely no smog. Nice to be able to take a deep breath and not choke!
