It's a week before a big date with that hot guy that you've been eying for way too long. You want to look "perfect." As you plan your outfit you flip through a few chick's magazine and inevitably find pages of "perfect" bodies. But even for those models and actresses, that perceived perfection wasn't easy to attain. Sweating, spray tanning, spa'ing, and dieting to the verge of starving is often requisite photo-shoot prep, followed by posing in practiced stances that best flaunt those hard-earned assets. Why oh why must we put our bodies through such strain to attain this ridiculously unrealistic "perfect?" Sure, one bad pic could land even the most body-coveted celeb on one of many "worst" lists, but what affect do their habits have on us? Promoting that near-impossible standard of "perfect" can cause the every woman to stress about our less than paparazzi-picturesque reflection.
But here's the BIG SECRET: Celebs don't maintain "perfect" year round. In fact, they oftentimes fake it thanks to practiced positioning, flattering cuts, same-day de-puffers, strategic spray tanning, momentary muscle-toning exercises, and a whole lot of eye-catching confidence. Think about how many "celeb flaws exposed" magazine features there are highlighting "stars without makeup" in all of their eye-sagging, cellulite studded, muffin-top glory. Yes, celebs are people too, with real bodies just like you.
So before you stress out about your hot date, doing your best to trim your body to best face (and best butt) forward-perfection, try some of these celeb-tested secrets to fake your body perfect too.
1 Week Before Your Date:
EAT:
Vitamin C. A natural alternative to botox and collagen injections? Maybe not... but eating plenty of Vitamin C, like in kiwi and grapefruit, will up your natural collagen production and fight wrinkles.
Spices. Spice up your food as much as your runny nose can take it! Cayenne and Chili Pepper are natural fat burners.
Slow Digesting Foods. Squeeze in those extra jogs. Slow digesting foods like Oatmeal, lentils and sweet potatoes increase stamina.
The Day Of Your Date:
EAT
AM: Good healthy carbs like oatmeal, berries, a green smoothie, plus some healthy fats such as almond butter.
LUNCH/ DINNER: Veggies and healthy proteins like fish, hemp seeds, almonds, or lean meats.
SNACKS: Try walnuts or tofu. The Omega 3 Fatty Acids deliver moisture to your hair and skin.
AVOID
DAIRY: Dairy can cause bloat for those who are lactose sensitive.
SALT: Salt is another stay-away-from spice. Overdid it on the soy sauce? Eat potassium-rich foods to counterbalance salt puff like: Avocado, Beets, Papaya, Sweet Potato, Grapefruit, and Salmon.
DROP WATER WEIGHT
To decrease circumference fast, you need to drop water weight. Try these "Diuretic" Foods to Encourage De-Puffing: Celery, Celery seed, Cranberry juice, Green tea, Fennel, and Parsley
Also, the obvious, drink lots of water! If your body doesn't think it will be getting water for a while, it retains water. That's why we get bloated when we're dehydrated. For an extra kick, try water with lemon and limes in it. These help flush out toxins in the body and the Vitamin C burns fat, particularly in the stomach area.
EXERCISE
Focus on last minute touch-up toning on any exposed muscles. The rush of blood to the area will temporarily engorge the muscle, making it appear to be more toned and tight than it actually is. Try Tricep Dips, Calf Raises, Plank, Push-Ups, Lunges, and Squats to target areas most noticed in dresses. Try celeb trainer Jennifer Galardi's Red Carpet Body Mini Workout. Already in makeup and heels? Try Standing Crunches for serious last minute tone-ups.
SHOWER
Certain foods, when spread on your skin, are said to help soften, tighten, tone, even minimize the appearance of cellulite. Like:
Coffee Grinds
mixed with olive oil or coconut oil. Why? Like when you drink it, the caffeine in coffee speeds up blood flow, getting things flowing and improving your skin's appearance. The olive or coconut oil makes it so that you can more easily scrub the stuff along your skin.
Raw Eggs. No joke. The lecithin in the yoke strengthens connective tissue. Slather it on. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Wash it off. After washing it off, your skin will appear tighter.
Cayenne, Oatmeal, Milk. Quarter of a teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper (helps with cell turn over). Half cup oatmeal (exfoliates). Half cup milk (lactic acid exfoliates). Scrub it on in the shower for an instant invigorating exfoliation!
CONFIDENCE
Confidence is the most important accessory you can adorn with. Without it, you can be wearing the most beautiful gown, and have a great hair day, but still not be the best version of yourself. Don't leave home without it! Struggling to muster up confidence for your big date? Don't turn red; wear red! In Feng Shui philosophy, wearing red underwear will emit power, attract luck and boost self confidence. Plus they're sexy ;)
