Is Britney Spears Too Sexy for Her Kids?

Britney Spears's PR team is doing damage control over remarks the singer made Thursday about her new music video for the song, "Work Bitch," a sparkly techno-beat explosion of fishnets, fierceness, and F-me heels.

On Thursday, Spears called into Boston radio station AMP 103.3 and revealed reservations about her sexy performance in the video. "Oh my god, we showed way more skin and did way more stuff for the video than what is actually there," she said. "Like, I cut out half the video because I am a mother and because, you know, I have children, and it's just hard to play sexy mom while you're being a pop star as well." And when asked whether her team was pushing her to be more sexual, Spears laughed and said, "Yes."

Her manager Larry Rudolph and father Jamie Spears were quick to issue a correction, telling E! News in a statement, "Britney is never pressured into anything. She reviews all creative and for her 'Work Bitch' video she discussed toning down some parts in finding a balance of sexy and being a mom."

It's a common conundrum for many Hollywood celebrities: Reconciling their public roles as sex symbols with the more private one of motherhood. Doing so while pregnant is difficult enough — witness Kim Kardashian's refusal to wear maternity clothing — but Spears is a seasoned mom. Her sons Jayden James, 7 and Sean Preston, 8, are old enough to consume multimedia, be curious about the opposite sex, and grapple with the world's perception of their mother (sexpot) and their own (plain 'ole mom). Sounds like Spears is trying to accomplish what most moms do every day: Make good decisions for her career and her family.

Some celebrity moms get it — Beyonce wears short-shorts but channels her sexuality through dancing. Gwen Stefani's tomboy-couture tempers her sexy abs. And Angelina Jolie can melt anyone's heart, even with all six kids in tow. But not every mom is on board. Take Jenny McCarthy, who recently posed for Playboy. And who can forget "Teen Mom" Farrah Abraham's sex tape? Others struggle with finding their sweet spot: Kim Kardashian made her post-baby debut wearing jeans and a button-down shirt, then followed up this week with a cleavage-bearing gown.

As for Spears, her catchy songs, flashy choreography, and knack for bouncing back from any PR crisis have charmed us for almost 15 years. She'll figure it out.
