      Sigh... Unfortunately, no matter how much protein I eat, my nails are thin and split. At least they grow pretty quickly though....

      Joy-no offense hon, but why do you bother reading Shine? Every single post that I've ever read from you seethes with anger, hatred and condescention. It fine if you don't agree with the author of the stories, but you consistently attack and belittle both the authors and other posters. If reading the articles here infuriates you that much, it's probably better for your own blood pressure if you choose another site.

      Like Hab said, this is not intended to be an all-inclusive list for a balanced diet, just some tips on where you may want to tweak your eating habits if you seem to consistently have a problem. I have issues with acne occasionally but I'm allergic to fish, so I can still double check to make sure I'm getting enough Omega-3s and flaxseed.

      the fruits and veggies at a Wal Mart Supercenter are old at best. Sometimes that is all people can eat if they have a Wal Mart in a small town.

      I had a physical a while back and asked the Dr to check my cloistral. He did and wanted to know how my "C" was 145 good, and 25 bad, I told him I eat about 3 lbs of raw onions a week. My boss had HIGH C and I told him to eat raw onions , in one month he went from 310 down to 190!!

      What you say is true however most foods are poisoned in the growing process with pestacides....hail to the power of money.....and so we are poisoned in the process....unless we eat organic

      If you really want to know what are the best foods to eat for your body go to a local health food store, have your blood tested and they will provide you with foods that have a positive and non-positive reaction with your blood. No I'm not crazy, I've had to to do this myself. I have crohns and many foods have a positive and non-positive effect on my crohns and my blood. If you suffer with crohn think vegeterian. Eating only fruits and vegetables and no meat, I have not had an issue with crohns for 2 months but then I went back to my regular foods and with 2 days I was back having serious problems. Be smart with what you eat, your health is at risk !

      All of you are so right when it gets down to JUST eat a rainbow (mixed colors) of food. Many foods are great for health. If you eat a fast burger every other day..good luck with your health. Congratulates to the ones that realize food does make the person you are now and more importantly who you will be when you have a strong need for the future. eg kids, grand-kids or just looking far into the future.

      You can lower your cholesterol naturally by consuming fiber, preferably soluble. Fiber binds with bile in your digestive tract. Bile is created by cholesterol; therefore, cholesterol will be used to create new bile and thus lowering your number. Also, sex hormones and stress hormones are created by cholesterol. So if your cholesterol number is high your body might be trying to cope with stress more.

      If you Dr attempts to put you on a statin, request a cortisol test and a VAAP test first. If your cortisol is high the cholesterol is due to a stress response. The VAAP test checks your lipo-protein partical size. This might be foreign to most people, but it indicates the "quality" of the so-called bad cholesterol.

      To lower triglycerides also look into omega 3 fatty acids, DHA specifically.

      I have liver cancer and take yew in it's natural form, nine tabs aday and Femora the harmone drug to reduce all natrual harmones. I eat a well balanced diet and drink two pints of unsweetened grape juice every day.
      I feel good and have little or no problems at this time. AMA Dr'S. all want you to go on Chemo, not for me. The yew is the main ingrediant of Tomaxifen, a cancer drug, with no side effects. It can be purchased over the internet, I also take CQ 10, C, Milk Thistle, Multi Vitimin,Vit. D
      and for now my tumor indicator has reduced from 75 to 21. Which means it is helping.
      I also, believe in PRAYER, and have so many people who are praying for me. With out the combo of all of these, well, I would not be here. Attitude, Faith and common sense towards food will help, I know, I am there.

      My Aunt had colon cancer 69 years ago they replaced some of her colon with deer gut and told her to eat what she wanted except animal fat and then they cooked with fat meat from a pig, uck &she did what they said lived to be 95 years old cancer never came back. I wonder way they don't do the same way today. People are still dieing from colon cancer if it work for her it looks like the deer gut replacement must be a good thing and we know fats is not good for us.And she ate lots of fruits veggies and dried beans which has omega 3 it must be the way we should go and not just eat 8 kinds of food. I need to eat more of these food and I am trying very hard to live like this and love these foods.

      I am 62 and my friend say I look like a 50 years old woman. I always cared about what I eat. And I am convinced that eating lots of fruits and veggies is the secret. I eat very little of red meat and more of fish and chicken breast instead. A good eating habit is the secret to keep myself in good health.

      Thanks for the information. I heard that flaxseed and omega 3s is very good for you from several people. Keep this info coming.
