YOUR FRIENDS' ACTIVITY

    Foot Love

    By Melissa Williams

Having flexible, supple and strong feet will help you stay more balanced, and will also alleviate everything from back pain to headaches because your feet are the ultimate "root" of your posture - every day of your life! Here are a few ways to take care of them.

    Stretch

Kneel, resting on your knees. Curl your toes under and sit back with your sit bones on your heels. This is a very intense stretch, so only stay for a few breaths and come down. This is an excellent posture if you tend to wear heels during the day.

    Balance

Learning to see how your feet should be positioned, with equal weight on all four corners of your feet, can help you find balance in any activity. Try tree pose and notice if you shift your weight to one side of the foot or the other. Play around with balancing on one leg and see if you can keep the weight equally distributed.

    Massage

Give yourself a foot massage on a daily basis, and according to Ayurveda, you'll boost your immunity. Spend some time stretching in between the toes, massaging both the big toe mound as well as the heel and arch. Add a little softening lotion and voila!
