Guess Who's Germier: Women or Men?

http://media.zenfs.com/en-US/blogs/partner/man-and-woman-in-guest-room.jpgWe've heard all kinds of reports about who might be the germier sex. Of course, you know that women's restrooms tend to be dirtier than men's, according to studies, which is a fact that still surprises me. We also know that men's fingernails tend to be dirtier than women's. So, who is the germier sex, in total? Results are in!

    Women!

Well, that's according to a recent Wall Street Journal article anyway. And, the article seems to point out that it's our offices that are the major offenders:

"After testing surfaces and objects in 113 offices in five cities, the Arizona researchers found that women's offices had more than twice the bacteria of their male counterparts. Makeup cases, phones and purses had the highest number of bacteria."

How about we all go clean and sanitize our offices and phones, right now--what do you say?

P.S. If you want my unscientific opinion, I still think that dudes are germier. Sorry guys! Just my hunch.

Sorry Sarah science doesn't rely on your opinion. Try washing your filthy gash instead of blaming others

gender shouldn't matter, why are these scientists/researchers always doing pointless studies? focus on things that actually matter instead of trying to divide the sexes and give more fuel to gender debates

Not from what I read. You're propping up the antiquated stereotype that women are dirty, and neglected to say that yeast and mold made up the majority of bacteria tested for women. From storing food in their desks. That's right - her menstrual cycle had NOTHING to do with this (but then, that's the stupid link people automatically make when discussing hygiene and women in the same conversation).

Here's what they said about MEN:

"But the superbug MRSA, isolated in 6% of offices, was found more often in men's offices on the phone, computer mouse, desktop and the bottom of desk drawers."

Gee, you're going to tell us how women are inherently dirtier; then leave out that scary bit about antibiotic resistant bacteria being found on 6% of offices?

Uh, wouldn't it be infinitely more important to Healthy Living readers to report about MRSA in the workplace than women having more mold in their desks?

This blog post is a total hack. FAIL.

Women might carry more germs but it's men who "leave more germs around." They touch their private part to pee and don't wash their hands. They poop on the back of the toilet seat and don't wipe it. They spit up wads of phlegm and leave it lying around. Disgusting.
Women on the other hand do not touch their private parts when peeing. Are usually the ones to check and see that they left the toilet seat clean. Don't spit up wads of phlegm unless it's into a tissue and then toss the tissue in the trash. This is just a general statement, I know some women are slobs just like some men so don't crucify me. Just my observations in my 58 yrs. of walking this earth.

What ever, I believe everybody should keep it clean be it male or female. Gender doesn't make a bit of difference. Both sides get dirty and both sides can get clean. End of story.

I, from my own witnessing, know that both sexes help to add to this topic of being labeld as "germier" creatures, from the females who have poor hygiene habits when they are on their menstrual cycles (proof: Public bathrooms) from males who I have also witnessed, are not only slobs in the knowing how to Clean a room or house, also to not washing their hands after they hold their....when take a pee, and my list grows as sight seeing and realizing facts to the discussion of this topic: Who is the Germier Sex.

Judging from what I have seen in my office and the many toilets that I have used around the world... women are definitely the dirtier and germier gender! It embarasses me to no end!
