Jennifer Lawrence's Intense Fitness Regimen for the Hunger Games

Jennifer Lawrence refused to follow Hollywood's hungry games for her role in Hunger Games.

The actress who has been cast as the leading character, Katniss Everdeen, in the movie Hunger Games, refuses to diet and is comfortable appearing "a little chubby" on screen, according to Mail Online.

She told Us magazine, "I'm miserable when I'm dieting, and I like the way I look." Aside from her refusal to diet, Lawrence did require going through plenty of physical training to prepare for the role.

She worked closely with strength and conditioning coach Joe Horrigan.

MTV news caught up with him recently and asked how he helped her train for the part. "She worked with me usually twice a day, and that could be a combination of work at the track, which included agility drills, sprint work and running work, and she also had to work with an archery coach three or four days a week, and in the evening we would do stationary bike work, a mix of anaerobic and aerobic work," he explained. "At a certain point she had to start working with the stunt crew. They had their own obstacle course and wanted her to be able to hop over trees and climb trees and that type of thing, so she was very familiar with it."

Like Horrigan mentioned, she worked with an archery coach, but not just any archery coach. They had her work with four-time Olympian Archer Khatuna Lorig. They wanted to make sure Lawrence looked like a pro with the bow.

In Lorig's interview with Hollwood.com she said, "From the beginning, I told her, 'Listen. If this is going to work, we're going to do it in a professional way.' It's a physical sport-even though I had her with a very light, barely 20-pound or 18-pound Olympic-style wooden bow for her. She was getting sore. I think she was working out in the morning, then coming shooting with me, then going to work out again."

Working out several times a day was exactly what Lawrence was doing. So who could blame her for being a little tired every now and then as well as not wanting to be hungry during all of it? But of course attitude is everything and Lorig had nothing but good things to say about her recent pupil according to usarchery.org, "It was my pleasure to coach her. She's a hardworking girl and has an awesome personality."

The movie will be released Friday March 23, 2012 at midnight and if you are anything like me, I am starving to see this movie!
