When you need to get up and go, you need to g, go go! Here are 8 quick ways to boost your energy.
.) Ditch the caffeine. I recently switched to caffeine only half the days of the week, and the reduction in anxiety has been tremendous. I love Teeccino, an herbal coffee made from chicory that offers a deep, rich roast- and I especially like their single-serve tea bags.
.) Read. Instead of watching TV try reading. You're more likely to stop when you're tired and you're more likely to keep your brain thinking and not vegging out. Feel free to choose whatever book keeps you going. Romance (Fifty Shades anyone??), humor, you name it.
.) Dance for five minutes. Turn up the radio and get your booty-shake on. Your heart will be pumping, and stress will release.
.) Go upside-down. Did you know that sometimes it just takes a shift in perspective to change our moods. Try an inversion- Downward Dog, Headstand, Shoulderstand, Handstand-anything where your head is looking up (or is below) your feet should help change your mind-set.
.) Call in the reserves. Call up the friend that you know will always leave you with a smile on your face. Better yet, set up a date (if you can).
.) Eat complex. Say sayonara to simple carbohydrates, especially when you need peak mental functioning. Instead be sure to eat complex carbohydrates with protein added. Even adding a tablespoon of peanut butter to half a bagel will last you longer than the bagel alone.
.) Aim to exercise 20 minutes more today.
.) Take something off your plate. Do you have something on your to-do list that you hate, isn't terribly vital, yet is completely draining? Take it off!
